The museum is very interesting. A lot of information on how Iowa was formed geographically. There are many life size depictions of people and their lifestyles in those days. Some very big animals also exist in the Museum.

Spent a couple of hours walking arounf the natural history museum, plenty of information and exhibits to keep yourself entertained

Our son has been enjoying night at the museum for four years We love the staff, the programming, themes, and our son loves the adventure

I owe a great debt of gratitude to this museum, which helped foster a lifelong passion for Natural History, and for these sorts of museums.I frequented it regularly as a child in the 1960's. I now live a few blocks away from the American Museum...More

there are three flours...in one of the floors you will learn about American history and native Americans; statues and explanation...one floor is dedicated to all birds so lovely...another one is made by students and professors also animals...it's nice to see...

I'll start with the fact that's it's free, and pretty interesting to a 20 month old! It's very.... dated. Had a cabinet of curiosities feel to it, and while we were there we didn't see a single employee or volunteer. Old building, big building.... bet...More

Spent a lot of time in Iowa City over the years to see Dr. Ponseti at the Children's Hospital for clubfoot treatment, this is always on our list, we love the giant sloth.

This is a free attraction so I wasn't sure what to expect. Turns out there was a lot of interesting state history and displays with a whole variety of stuffed animals inside.
