Think of walking over 1500 miles while takin all of your worldly goods on a hand cart. Then the reason you are doing it is because of religion in the US. I am not Mormon but this still touched me to think of what it...More

This was a lovely blacktop walking path that memorializes those who gave up so much for something they believed in. It is wonderful that attention is given to past events that helped make this country. The path is not too long nor is it bogged...More

The Mormon Handcart Site was an interesting find while walking some of the back trails in Coralville/Iowa City. We learned a lot about the Mormon's trek across Iowa.

As I leave the Coralville Mall area where the Cross Creek Trail starts it is a pretty trail that leads to this site. It is along the creek, in the woods all the way, and you are never far from Hwy 6 and the hustle...More

It was neat to read the signs and think what might have occurred in this land many years ago. There's really nothing remarkable about this site, but it's along a really nice paved walking/biking/running path.

Truly a unique piece of history when you read about the Mormons moving west with the use of handcarts. The path is paved and handicapped accessible. The trail is not very long - only about a half mile but it is a hilly venture -...More

This is an interesting site, where you can read about the Mormon Handcart's trials on their travels across the U.S. The trail is quite wooded, hilly, but paved.
