We visited the Museum while on a short trip for Valentine's Day/Wedding Anniversary. Our favorite part of the museum was the aquarium, especially the displays dealing with the species prevalent to our area of the Midwest. The Paddleboat history and displays were very well done. We only had a couple of hours to visit, so my biggest tip is to... More

Affordable, family fun. The high point of the day was petting a sting ray. We spent a few hours fascinated by all they had to offer.

The facility is located in the old Dubuque Harbor where boats were constructed over the years and even for use in World War II.

A great variety of indoor and outdoor displays and activities about the history, commerce, nature, and human & non-human inhabitants of the Mississippi River system. Everything is approachable and hands-on. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. The multiple buildings and features of the museum & aquarium are neighbors to the river itself, a beautiful river walk, a conference center, a... More

This museum is extremely interesting. It is a terrific mix of river lore, boats, fish, ecology and history. When you finish visiting the museum, you will have a great feel of what river life was like over the years.

I know the reason museums need to charge high rates is because of lack of attendance but $50 for a family of 4 is crazy. Our entire team up for Iowa Games would have went but with $50 being the cheapest plan with no frills is just too much.

You'll need the whole day to explore the River Boat & Aquatic Museums. Plenty of parking, hands on for the kids, shops along the way, all in doors for the Water displays. You can walk along the scenic river to the River Boat Museum side and see the History of the Mighty Mississippi and how it plays such a huge... More
