We recently discovered this park and have made several trips this winter to hike with our dog. The park has many trails from easy to somewhat challenging. The scenery and the terrain makes you forget your in Iowa. The most beautiful park I've found within 30 minute drive from Omaha.

One of the best places to experience the Loess Hills. I recommend hiking on the trail. Some of the can be really challenging.

My baby, toddler and I had a great hike today. I stuck to the "blue trails" in Fox Ridge which are indicated as easy. I was able to take my double jogging stroller on the path. My toddler loved talking about the plants, bugs, birds and views! We got to the end of the trail to the lookout point, only... More

Oh this place is so nice. Lots of trails to hike and explore. They have the tower to go up and look out. I'm afraid of heights but I did manage to go up there and look out. It was so pretty. Bring lunch and find a place to eat. Never disappoints

Located in the Loess Hills of Western Iowa, this nature center is great for kids of all ages. Nature programs, short hikes and plenty of wild life! We live in the area and we go a couple of times a year with family and friends, and daughter goes each year with her class from school!

Has cabins to rent if desired. Many trails to walk through the Loess Hills and great scenery. Can see many birds when hiking along the trails. Can be seen in different seasons too

We've been to the Hitchcock Nature Center twice now to hike. It a short drive out of Omaha just north of Crescent Iowa. It costs just $2 for a car to get in. There are a number of hiking trails that wind around the top of and up and down the hills. Not really difficult hills but a good amount... More

While the blazing heat actually prevented us from staying overnight, we did love the grounds at the Hitchcock Nature Center! There were well-maintained primitive campsites with grills and picnic tables, as well as natural shade... Hikes themselves come in many different tract levels; the views can be soaring! The observation tower is a nice touch with a sweeping view of... More

Hitchcock is my go-to for backcountry camping. There are a handful of campsites to choose from; High point and Hueneme pond sites are my 2 favorites. Make sure to register at the trailhead to let others know what sites are available.

This is the my favorite destination for photography and nature. There is always interesting programs for the young and old, hawk watching, especially in the fall with migration. A forty foot tall tower provides excellent views for miles in every direction. The people manning the tower during migration are always willing to share their expertize as are the rangers and...
