Expanded 50,000 sq. ft. building opened in July 2012 with a world-class exhibit "Alphonse Mucha: Inspirations of Art Nouveau" featuring 230 pieces direct from Prague and London. Two other galleries feature rotating exhibitions on the culture, art and history of Czechs and Slovaks. And don't miss the two-room 1880's Czech immigrant house that was home to five generations. See the new museum store filled with European treasures and gifts. Stroll down Czech Village and also visit the exhibition, "Rising Above: the Store of a People and the Flood" located a 87 Sixteenth Ave. SW

We visited as a stop on a road trip because of my husband's heritage. It was very interesting and well done. We learned a lot, and also corroborated many of the stories/legends/history shared from family members. A nice place.

A great museum of Czech and Slovak heritage and a great testament to the Cedar Rapid community. If you are not from Iowa you likely are not aware this museum was devastated by severe flooding in 2008. Instead of giving up, the community move the...More

You don't have to be Czech or Slovak to appreciate this important museum's history of these peoples. Changing exhibit on Sokol is outstanding.

The Museum is quite wonderful on it's own, but this visit we were able to see a traveling exhibit of Chuily glass pieces. Amazing. They are there until October 2017 and it truly is a must see!!

I personally would not take a 4 year old to the museum. I feel the museum is geared more for adults...with a couple of hours I would try the Playstation, off Collins. A road trip= little ones need to stretch and unwind.
