This is a small, local museum so you can't compare it to bigger museums. But it does a very good job of recording the history of African Americans in Iowa and other mid-west states. It was only $5 to go in, and they have a...More

The museum is large, well put together, and provides a history of African Americans in Iowa before and after the Civil War, with some 21st century displays. Appropriate for children and adults.

I took some visiting students here, and we enjoyed it so much. It was my first time visiting the museum, but I would definitely go back. The first thing that struck me was the water line in the museum...it was above my head. They came...More

Very interesting facts but it requires lots of reading. Kids would not enjoy this as there is very little hands on or interesting visual displays to draw their attention.
