The History Center is currently in the process of restoring and renovating the Douglas Mansion on 2nd Ave for our move there in Spring of 2018. Our administrative offices are currently located on Oakland road, but please note that there are no exhibits at this location. To see a History Center exhibit, please visit the downtown Cedar Rapids Public Library to see our current exhibit The Old Ball Game. You can learn more about our upcoming move and our current programs at our website.

I haven't been to the History Center. The building has been in renovation, but I have learned so much by going on several of the walking history tours. It is a wonderful way to learn about Cedar Rapids through it's architecture and the guides are wonderful. There were several of them in different areas. Keep up the good work. It... More

Cedar Rapids is certainly fortunate to have the History Center. Its collections of Cedar Rapids artifacts and excellent staff make research easy. The displays will certainly attract the younger set. One of the reference staff will also give walking tours of the downtown area to interested groups. I met a person who attended the tour as part of a class... More

The Koehler History Center is a neat little museum with several nice exhibits on the history of Cedar Rapids and local area. It is a free museum with donations accepted. It is located on 1st Ave near Coe College and Mercy Hospital. Its def. worth an hour of your time to learn a little bit about the area.

While I won't say this is the best museum ever, it is certainly worth a visit. It has interesting exhibits and traveling exhibits that are worthwhile. The people there love what they do and it shows. The kids' area is nice, too. It's the right size for a short stop, to get little kids interested in museums, or to learn... More

A group of us went to see the Curious George travelling exhibit. That was the attraction that drew our attention. However, I was impressed with the kids interactive area. Learned some interesting facts like when instant oatmeal was invented. We also enjoyed the numerous paintings of the Civil War. It was a great place to visit!

I set up a trip for my husband to see this train museum after seeing an ad in the Iowan magazine. While interesting, it's not very large. The rest of the museum was worth a stop and see however. Have a nice kids interactive area it appeared.

The CR History Center was awesome. If you enjoy history, this place is for you. Great information and at times the center spotlights an area or business or organization. I will be back
