Very cool stop, it doesn't take long and you get to see you flamingos in there wildlife habitat. We were lucky because a bunch of the flamingos were actually pretty close to the spots where you could walk.

We stopped along our way back from our adventures to Shete Boca and St Christoffel. The signage was not super fantastic, but we were able to spot it. The parking is right along the side of the road, basically next to nothing. The time of year and day we were only able to see a few flamingos at a great distance and which we would have needed our binoculars. We were warned about theft in the area and not to leave your car unattended. So my husband and I took turns looking at the distant flamingos. This is the very first time that we were able to see a flamingo in the wild and not at a zoo, so for me it was quite an amazing experience. However I couldn't even see their color because of the distance and the sun. I appreciate that they have this available for the public to experience, however I feel that if some kind of security were present, we would have been able to enjoy this area together for a longer period of time and possibly seen more.

This isn't so much a sanctuary, but a watering hole where flamingos can be seen. We had rented a car and pulled off the side of the road to get out and see the flamingos. It was neat to see them all in their natural habitat, but they were quiet far from view. We were in the area anyways, but I would look to join a tour or make a special trip to see.

If this is supposed to be a wildlife sanctuary then the surrounding area should be cleaned up.
We were on a tour and this was a stop to see flamingos.
Dont rely on seeing many or even any. Wildlife is wild so no guarantees. We cant deny we saw some but in the distance and too far to be a spectacle.
Take binoculars of you have them.
The viewing platform has a maximum of 10 people at a time which was only pointed out by one of our group not our leader! Most of the time I expect there will only be one or two cars at a time so no problem.
A stop on the way to or from somewhere else not a destination.
Its free so nothing to lose.

Although the flamingoes are a little far away, this place is spectacular and certainly worth the visit. It is located on the way to Porto Marie beach. Almost across the street from the salt pans, you can enjoy a delicious goat burger at a local snack run by a very nice and happy lady.

It was so nice to see flamingos in the wild. There were dozens of them. We stopped along the road behind some shrubs so we would not scare them while we took pictures. What was heartbreaking was to see garbage at the edge of the water tossed by previous people that visited. I would love to see them arrested for littering and ani.al cruelty

Monday 18th April we were driving around exploring the northwestern side of the Island.

Having just passed the Wllliwood sign, along
Weg Naar St Willibrordus, we stopped at a small road parking spot along side this viewpoint.

As this region is known for flamingos we were hoping to see some, a good few.

There was a notice, across the footbridge leading to the viewing platform, it advised visitors not to use the bridge and keep off. It soon became apparent why, the bridge was unsafe and rotting away.

A small pathway, at the side of the bridge led us down on to the mud flats. Disappointingly we only saw 4 flamingos in a cluster in the distance and an egret.

Entry to the viewing platform at the end of the footbridge was also prohibited due to structural safety.

We did walk about the flats for a bit enjoying the scenery.

Another disappointing aspect was the amount of litter about the place.

Place was completely deserted, covered in glass, dirt and garbage. Nothing is being maintained. A few flamingos in the far distance. In the back some dodgy places - don't leave any valuables in your car.

We stopped on the way to Shete Boka Park and it was a good place to stretch the legs. Very barren landscape, so desert like. We did see some flamingos napping in the way distance, which was cool, but not spectacular. Not worth an out of the way stop, by take a few minutes to stop on the way to another destination.

Well no birds is very disappointing! If there had not been an older local lady across the road to guide us we would not have seen any birds. The birds leave during mating times to go to another spot... this lady directed us, and we found an entire colony of flamingos!!!!
