Unless you are like me, and want an occ ride on a caboose , this is a place for a 10 and younger. My husband and I took our teenage sons and our one sons girlfriend on the Pizza Train. Sure, we talked and enjoyed each other's company on the train, but that is mainly because there wasn't much to see out the window most of the time. Once you get to the area for the Pizza place, you then have to walk a bit. Please, make sure you know how far the walk is.

For really small kids, this is probably an exciting adventure. I don't think older kids would find it to be and ours did not. The decorations on the train were just kind of tired and old barely any lights and surprisingly, no Christmas music. The train ride goes past the following scenery: a portapotty graveyard with thousands of old portapotties, a dumpster graveyard and a junkyard full of old cars and other junk. The north pole was not lit up with lights, was just a few plywood buildings outside the train. Santa was exciting, the hot chocolate and cookies were good but the rest of the experience was kind of lame and a disappointment. It was nearly $200 for a family of 5 to go, I didn't feel it was worth the price.

Love going on the train rides. Dinner is fun, the fair train is great because it beats the car parking problems. Going on the Polar Express very soon and introducing my grandson to the big trains for his first time.

There's not much here that really qualifies as being museum-like. The grounds are filled with old, rusting railroad engines and cars, a handful of which are open for touring. The organization also operates special trains and these can be fun. But it's important to schedule the web site for the schedule of operations. Fortunately, we were there on a day when they were running brief train rides; without that, the visit would have been a complete waste.

There are only a few train cars open that you can walk through, the rest of the "Museum" is shut down and in dissarray.

I have been to other museums that feature transportation and they range from quite good to very bad. Sadly, this one falls into the poor end of the spectrum. It was dirty, not kept up and sounds better than it really is. Not surprised that it will close.

You get to see the outside of some old freight cars. You can pay 5 dollars and ride a short distance in a flat car. Indiana is not notable for museums except the Childrens Museum which is too expensive for most families.

Very interesting train museum. You can walk around on all passenger trains. Kids loved it. Took the train ride up to Atlanta and back. Want to return with the Grandparents.

There are a number of old rusting trains laying around in the yard to look at, but that is about it. Not much of a museum. The trains you ride on are not in the best condition. One of the bathrooms was closed due to the floor having rusted out. You could see the tracks through the holes!
The trains themselves are kind of unkept. It is fun to ride the train to the state fair, but cross your eyes you don't get seated in a car that doesn't have a working AC unit. If you are a railbird, this may be a fun visit, but if you are not a railbird, your time could be better spent at a different museum.

This is such a cool way to get to the State Fair. Parking is much easier the further away you are. We had a great experience, we were able to rest a bit after a busy day before we got in the car and went home. It was a lot of fun for my kids. It isn't often anymore we can travel by train for must of us.
