About
Our Brewery & tasting room are located at Waitiri Creek, Gibbston Valley, Queenstown. The tasting room was originally the Wangaloa Presbyterian Church. It was built in 1894 and relocated to Queenstown in 2000 where it became the cellar door for Waitiri Creek Vineyard. We serve locally produced Waitiri Creek Wines at our tasting room. Guests can enjoy a unique beer and wine tasting experience.

Our favourite stop on our hop on hop off wine bus tour. Such a great atmosphere to sit outside in the sun. Great range of drinks and the food coming out looked quality. Would definitely recommend. Friendly staff.

Charming little church with, beautiful scenery and the original presentation of tastings. I ordered something sweet and they brought me a nice brownie. I got a Bald hills pinot noir.

We keep coming back.

Bike ride (ebike nowadays, hired in Arrowtown (including for the 9 year old)) from Arrowtown, stop at the buggy for a drink and break and then to Cargo for lunch. About 21 Km’s one way.

Great indoor and outdoor seating, activities for the youngsters including a football and goals, volleyball, a trampoline and more.

We shared a couple of yummy pizzas (we had GF) (although there could have been a few more mushrooms on ours), a tasty salad and my favourite the baked Brie with honey - which they did gluten free too.

Good selection of wines. I had a tasting rack of 4 wines for the same price as a glass and felt that I had good value.

Great location / setting and worth the trip. Would like to stay the day sipping wine with family and friends.

Sometimes need to book a table (which had good umbrellas for those of us that need the shade).

Then back on the bikes to Arrowtown - a big 42 km trip all up but an enjoyable day out.

What a wonderful way to spend an afternoon. Although we booked there was plenty of space on a public holiday.

We were greeted with a really warm welcome given options on seating and finally settled on the deck in the sun.

A lovely drink choices sampling the Pinot Noir and the Beer Flights, an fantastic way to start the afternoon.

Lunch included the Beef Brisket on a Turkish Bun and the Truffle Mushroom Pizza. The servings were generous with half of the pizza making the trip home with us and the food was delicious.

I can not speak highly enough of the service from all of the team at Cargo. My companion was on crutches and I asked if I could park closer to the building and this was no problem at all.

We were assisted to get to into the building, moving chairs and patrons to gain access, which was lovely.

We spent about 2 and a half hours, enjoying the sun, the scenery and the food, and the team checked in to make sure we were good and made us feel at home.

Can't recommend this place enough and will return again.

Cargo Brewery is an outstanding venue. 40 of us did the trail for my sons birthday we were all different age groups. Our first stop was cargo and it's just an amazing venue. It was a beautiful day and we loved sitting in the wide open space outside set up with volley ball and other games for young people, lots of beautiful shadey trees fantastic beer and food. We had the most amazing time there. Every one across all age groups just loved it. From age 10 to 82

A cycle along the Gibbston Trail brings you to a long driveway down to the old church that is the Cargo Brewery Taproom. Sit in the sun, gaze out over the lawns to the rugged hills, and enjoy one of their tasty brews.

We had time on our tour to stop here for a tasting board. The selections of beer and wine available were great and very affordable. The staff were friendly and the outdoor setting was excellent. The old church was great and the local cat made a visit to us. I enjoyed the 'everything pinot' tasting board and my wife had a mixed board. It is a great stop to relax and take in the scenery while soaking in the sun.

Beautiful setting with plenty of outdoor games available for all comers whet the appetite for us. Sadly the food was average, which was a disappointment considering we had heard good reports from friends who live in the area. The kids hot dog was overcooked and the pizzas were bland. The salad was a hit, though.

We are locals and hosted a whole bunch of friends for a wedding anniversary celebration, on an Altitude Twilight Wine tour. Wonderful experience, great hosts, great beer and wine choices, and the platters were great too!
