We took a four day cruise on the Stella Australis from Punta Arenas to Ushuaia. We had a wet landing from a zodiac (got one foot wet) to land at Cape Horn. After climbing up 300 or so steps, we were on mostly level ground on boardwalks. While walking to the statue of a life size albatross, we got hail... More

This was the highlight of our discovery trip in Patagonia. We were greeted by the officer of the Chilean army who spends a whole year there with his family. We walk twice to the seagull monument; first time the wind was so fast we could not stand nor take any correct picture. 30 minutes later, it was sunny and quiet.... More

I just completed a four night cruise on the Stella Australis, sailing from Punta Arenas to Ushuaia. It was a wonderful experience. Landing at Cape Horn is obviously weather dependent. We were fortunate to have perfect conditions: sunny and calm seas. In fact not only were we able to go ashore, when we departed the ship was able to circumnavigate... More

This is a special place for sailors and history buffs. The bad weather and frightening seas are the stuff of legend and there are over 200 shipwrecks of the cape. I was a little bit disappointed that we had excellent weather rounding the cape at dawn. After reading all the tales of story weather I had braced for big waves... More

As part of our once-in-a-lifetime bucket list cruise, we were scheduled to go around Cape Horn and through the Drake Passage into Antarctica. As luck would have it, we had beautiful weather for this amazing trip. I feel blessed to have experienced this event.

We sailed on the 198th Cruise from Ushuaia to Punta Arenas and made four landings including one at Cape Horn. Although advertised as 4 day trip, it was really three days and nights as we did not sail until 19:45 on the first day, but it was still amazing. However, I cannot compliment the professionalism and hospitality too highly, all... More

We sailed not only from east to west but turned and sailed also frim west to east. Only true sailors know the importance of this secret place on the planet. Hundreds of tall ships and boat went to the bottom of two oceans here. The albatrosses symbolize the souls of thousands of sailors who lost their lives discovering the world,... More

It was exciting to cruise around the famous Cape Horn. Fortunately it was very calm and we had a smooth journey seemingly waves can get to 30 ft here. Scenery very like Ireland .

This was an early highlight on our Midnatsol cruise from Punta Arenas to the Antarctic. No landing was possibly due to the heavy seas but the ship did a circumnavigation and we had fantastic views of the Cape, the Lighthouse and the monument with its poem to the ghosts of dead sailors. We certainly got a feeling of the power... More

The only current way to visit the Cape is by being a passenger on the Stella Australis cruise ship. Our visit was an early morning stop (7 a.m.) and we were fortunate to have decent weather. The seas were fairly calm near the landing site and even though it was windy, the winds were low enough to be safe. We... More
