Stopped by on a Saturday it was reasonably crowded which was surprising. It is still operational so you can see how cornmeal was made 100 years ago. It is a well preserved piece of history.

Like that one can go to the drive room in the basement and see how the axle that comes in from the water wheel transfers power to machinery

We bought some corn meal and the kids enjoyed seeing the grinding meal and water wheel. The staff was helpful with things around the town.

It was nice to see a working grist mill and workers were very nice and friendly. Bought a bag of the freshly ground corn meal.

Metamora does not look to be a thriving town and the mill is no different. Its happiest days seem to be behind it. It has a small souvenir shop with optional donation box and you can see the wheel downstairs.

Wonderful way to learn about the past. You can even buy some of the cornmeal for cooking. We love taking the kids then making muffins with the meal when we get back home.
