This home is a state of Indiana museum and is open almost everyday. Take time to stroll its garden on the south lawn. Or you can find a shady spot on the north lawn to take break from shopping. Bring your bag-chair to join us at the summer-time concerts. Take a tour of the old Greek Revival style mansion. Learn... More

My mother and I toured this gorgeous mansion because of me. We were visiting Madison where my great great grandpa and grandma lived in the late 1800s to early 1900s. My mother was so glad I got her to go. The mansion is out of this world. The man giving the tour knew his stuff. I could not get over... More

We did the tour of than Lanier Mansion on a rainy weekday morning with our teenage son. It was just the three of us on the tour with a very friendly gentleman guide who figured out how to keep our son engaged and be friendly and informative with the adults too. Especially for a rainy day activity, this is enjoyable.

This mansion is well worth the price of the tour. The guide was knowledgeable and questions were welcomed. The home has been carefully brought back to its original state and the stories about the Lanier family are fascinating.

Went on a beautiful 65 Feb Sat. The price is good at $10 per adult, only 4 of us on tour so easy to see. Tour only takes 30 minutes to cover all 3 stories, kinda quick. Tour guide was informative inside was very elegant and decorated to the period. Walk the river front when your done.

Pay for your tour across the street at the visitor center. They offer tours on the hour starting at 9 on week days. Saturday and Sunday they start a little later. They don't have a tour at 12 noon so the guide can eat. It was $8 a person senior rate. The mansion is kept up very nicely. It was... More

This historic home has been lovingly restored and furnished to reflect life along the Ohio River in the 1840s. My guide was extremely knowledgeable, not only regarding the mansion and grounds but the history of Madison and Indiana. Tickets are purchased across the street, and guided tours are offered on the hour.

Visited the mansion as part of Madison's "candlelight tour of homes". The mansion is stunning. The staff did an amazing job of explaining the history of every room. I was awestruck. I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Madison.

It's a beautiful mansion and a must-see on your Madison itinerary. I have been to Madison many times and finally took the tour. The tour is about an hour long but didn't feel rushed. Jerry was very informative and answered all my questions...he really knows the history of the house and family. We will definitely do the tour again when... More

Lovely home and well maintained. The guide was very knowledgeable and kept everyone informed and entertained during the hour or so tour. The spiral staircase was awesome to see. The state owes much to Mr. Lanier -- why didn't they teach us this in history classes over the years?
