We were excited about our boat trip to Birka but it wasn't quite as good as we had expected. All staff on the island wore viking clothes but that was strangely offset by seeing them in normal shoes - one with crocs and sunglasses! One...More

We walked 600 from the Central Station to the Klara Malarstrand wharf, waited at the 9 AM kiosk only to discover tickets were purchased when boarding the boat, or online (they board first). Also on weekends departure is at 10 AM (not 9:30). The "Victoria"...More

We visited on a Sunday and it was a fully packed boat. It was a good place to visit and plenty to keep all ages busy. We ate in the restaurant, which we enjoyed but it was expensive. We could have done with another hour...More

We took the 10 a.m. boat trip from the pier at Mariefred. I would suggest an over night stay here as Mariefred is well worth a half day visit on itself. The town is charming and Grippsholm slot is fascinating. The boat trip is direct...More

Most guests arrive by boat at the docks. You will find a expensive restaurant by the docks and a road that takes you to a little beach, museum, genuine Viking village. The tour guide is informal and up to date with current historical knowledge, and...More

Yes in summer ! Be at boat dock early before 9:30 to get good seat. Skip buying food on boat just get a snack on island instead! Great place! Very interesting
