You could go to Birka by private boat, but I'm not sure if the museum will be open. In Stockholm you should visit the National Museum which has a section about the evolution of Swedish costumes

Yes in summer ! Be at boat dock early before 9:30 to get good seat. Skip buying food on boat just get a snack on island instead! Great place! Very interesting
