Definitely worth a trip. Hidden gem dedicated to preserving steam boat history. I did the guided tour. Kadie was enthusiastic and informative. Worth the wait if necessary. Nice old home of a steamboat mogul with beautiful wood designs all over with maritime themes. Ornate rooms with matching chandeliers that may have inspired the room design. Older woman docent very knowledgeable and loves to tell the history.

If you like Victorian houses, you will love the Howard Steamboat Museum. Located across the street from the Jeff Boat works where they are still churning out large craft for our inland waterways. The annual chautauqua is fun event for the whole family, booths, crafts and food for everyone. A slice of a by-gone era.

This is a neat little museum located on the river in Jeffersonville, Indiana. The yard looks like a graveyard for steamship pieces, but it's cool to see them so close up. The information inside is great if you're interested in the steamboat era.

The staff was knowledgeable on the Howard's history and not just in Jeffersonville but also in our Nation's. Thankfully the Howard family chose to preserve their past for future generations. The best part is how they ate connected to Kokomo, IN where I was... More

This is a wonderful piece of river history. You can have an unguided tour, but I recommend having one of the local volunteers give you a tour. Lots of antiques.
