Overview
More
Hinkle Fieldhouse has reigned as one of the nation's great sports arenas for more than eight decades. The classic facility was constructed in 1928 and it has stood up to the test of time, maintaining the splendor, character and atmosphere that made it one of the nation's most famous basketball arenas for nearly a century. Hinkle Fieldhouse was home to Indiana High School basketball's "Hoosier Hysteria" tournament until 1971 and is currently home to Butler basketball and volleyball. The current capacity after the most recent renovation is 9,100. The Fieldhouse was named to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983, and declared a National Historic Landmark in 1987. Hinkle is open during regular business hours Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for free self-guided tours. Tickets are required for home athletic contests.

The field house is a place where history was made in Indianapolis. The feel you get when you step inside is amazing. You can see basketball games and the seating is great. There is a feeling of "Hoosier " when you go inside. The area...More

Bultler Bulldogs are awesome, and the newly renovated Hinkle Fieldhouse is, as well! The original building is one of Indy's most famous landmarks.

If you enjoy college basketball - you must see a game here. Too much history....and Butler plays some amazing basketball, so go catch a game. I recommend spending the extra money and buying seats in the 100 level. They are full seats and a comfortable...More

This was the second time my husband and I visited the Hinkle Fieldhouse. ("Hinkle" rhymes with "wrinkle" by they way, so don't embarrass yourself by mispronouncing it, like I did!) We are fans of the Xavier Musketeers (Cincinnati) so the drive was about two hours...More

The renovation of the fieldhouse did not disappoint. The floor is the original floor that has been kept up impeccably. Opportunity to get close to the players since there isn't much distance between the floor and the fans.

I was able to attend a BU exhibition game and very excited to see the nostalgia of Hinkle Fieldhouse. I was told that renovations were done in the off season, which really disappointed. I wanted to see more of the natural look of the field-house...More

And in Indiana, basketball is about as close as it gets to a religion. For non-Hoosiers, it should be noted that this building was built before but named after Paul D (Tony) Hinkle, legendary Butler University coach who was to Butler basketball what John Wooden...More

We attended the very first exhibition basketball game after the renovation and enjoyed it very much. Even in the "cheap seats" we could see everything. Food and restrooms are conveniently located.
