We were visiting Indianapolis and had some downtime. I thought we could explore the canal area. We were not disappointed. The total loop around the canal is very doable. We did it in two hours (with dinner in the middle). There were paddle boats and various types of bicycles you could rent. Lots of ducks and some geese. Great Sunday... More

I love walking by the canal and paddle boating in it. This is the spot to be at if you love the outdoors. Even on hot days it is cool due to the shadows and the breeze in the valley it sits in. Give it a try you will love it and be back

I have been to Indy many times and never knew this was even here! What a beautiful place! My daughter and I decided to walk down here and we couldn't believe how nice it was. I would definitely recommend taking a walk and exploring everything from the museums to taking a bike ride. So pretty! We will be back!

The Canal clearly helped to refurbish downtown Indianapolis. It offers a nice way for walking to and between the different parks and museums located around if you are staying in a hotel or apartment building nearby. There are also rental options of boats, kayaks and bicycles.

Really beautiful and well maintained place to walk or bike along the canal just taking in the scenery. It is a nice place to take a cooler and have a little canal side picnic, rent a paddle boat, or just breeze through on your bike. I would love to see the city put in dispensers for fish and duck food... More

This walk was beautiful. We saw a marriage proposal and two weddings while we were walking. The kids enjoyed catching Pokémon during our walk. You can rent a paddle boat to take up and down the canal.

If visiting Indy the canal is a must see. It is such an amazing gem in an urban environment. I think it is about 3 miles around and you can walk or rent bikes, surreys, paddle boats, gondolas. There are places along the canal that you can sit and read or just reflect. A small Italian Cafe for coffee or... More

If you are staying in Indianapolis take time to walk the canal. You will get your exercise, fresh air, and a good dose of people watching. Like a touch of Venice in the MidWest. Yes they even have gondolas !

We came here with two 6 month olds the other night at dusk. It was a great walk (about 4 miles round trip). There are some strange folks along the walking route so I would not feel comfortable without a small group in the evening. We have been here before and will come back again.
