This is a art museum of significant historical pieces that clearly costs millions. My favorite were the photo-realistic large canvases that make you want to walk right into scene depicted. There were a few (fortunately few) modernist paint sloppily applied. The museum owns true masterpieces of western sculpture and art, both Indian and Cowboy. I was stunned that they let... More

While we thought this was a great attraction, people should beware that most of the attractions are more about the art on location than native American or old west culture per se. People should also beware of the vending machines. One of them purports to sell art for $5 but it doesn't work very often and the art isn't what... More

We went to the museum because of the Jingle Rails exhibit, but enjoyed the rest of the museum as well. It has some absolutely amazing Southwestern Art. The Native American needlework was phenomenal. It was the best collection of Southwestern art that I have seen east of the Mississippi. The Christmas Jingle Rails exhibit of model trains is an annual... More

Paintings and sculptures depict life in the American West. Two stories of exhibits, some interactive, display numerous native American artifacts and teach aspects of their cultures. There are displays for visitors of all ages. Many benches and chairs allow for one to rest and take in the beauty of the place.

This museum is just wonderful. It's the only Native American museum I've ever been to, so I can't compare it to another. However, I learned so much here and it gives you a whole past to present perspective. Nice staff and really good layout. The cafe has a full menu to suit everyone's needs too. If you only have time... More

The architecture, room decor and items exhibited are one of the best collections in the country. The museum recently inherited an outstanding collection from the late owner of the Tennessee Titans and some of it is now on display. The restaurant is a great place for lunch and the gift shop is a great place to find items for special... More

Several people recommended a visit to this museum and I'm glad they did. On the lower floor are several rooms of early Western paintings and sculptures by Frederick Remington, Charlie Russell, Charles Schrevogel, Alfred Jacob Miller, Alfred Bierstadt and others, along with more recent artists such as Robert Griffing, John Buxton, and John Clymer. On the upper floor are displays... More

This museum is a must visit for any resident or visitor! They have great events and traveling displays all year long. You must visit the current "Jingle Rails: The Great Western Adventure" model train exhibit!! I'm not a model train buff, but found it fascinating! The recreations of Indianapolis landmarks were amazing! Different trains moving all over, under, and through!... More

We in Indiana are fortunate to have this facility and collection. The artwork is diverse in style and showcases the landscape and culture of Native American peoples. The collection features paintings and sculpture.Rotating special exhibits also add to the experience, in particular, the annual, "Quest for the West" show and sale.. There is a children's exhibit, and a great gift... More

We attended an evening function there and were allowed to walk about the museum. Lots of interesting paintings and sculptures.
