With this attraction you can learn so much about the Spanish American War as well as the wars that took place in Indy. The history was new to me and it made me aware of how much more I can learn

You will need good knees to go up to the top. It is also amusing to run up and down the stairs (hubby does this) or to just sit on the steps and look at the passersby.

Must visit if your are visiting Indy. We thought we'd take a quick walk through and ended up spending a few hours here with our five year old (she also enjoyed it). Lots of displays from different time periods. Make sure to visit the shrine...More

My original destination was the soldiers monument. But somehow maps pointed me here. And it turned out to be a happy accident. The museum was originally destined to be a museum to honor WW1. But today it honors all our veterans. But it honors all...More

The location was just perfect. There was one problem - the museum was to have closed early and it didn’t, so we had a wedding cake with the public walking around it! I don’t know if there is a handicapped entrance. The stairs were daunting.

With its origins a desire to honor those Hoosiers who sacrificed so much in "The Great War," this memorial has evolved to honor all who contributed to that and every major war since. Informative and authentic displays are in place or in work (generally in...More

This ominous building houses an incredible historical collection. All of the apparatus used in various battles ( tanks, guns, helicopters, bikes, uniforms, etc...) along with personal biographies were very well presented. Don’t miss the display upstairs. Such an amazing tribute and a presentation that will...More

This was recommended to us by a friend who lives in Indiana. I am not a fan of military history but was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed myself. First of all, there is no charge. The building is gorgeous on the inside; that...More

We've heard that Indianapolis ranks second after Washington, D.C. in terms of monuments to American military history. We don't doubt this, and the War Memorial certainly ranks as one of the key elements to Indianapolis' claims in this regard. The memorial is an impressive building,...More

This is a huge monument and has an interesting history and architecture, but one cannot enter it so basically you are left just looking at the outside. There are numerous steps to climb, so not good for those with mobility challenges. In the short time...More
