From a replica of a real French chateau to a working loom one could hold in the palm of one's hand, the Museum of Miniature Houses features a vast collection of exquisite miniature houses, vignettes and artisan pieces. "I had no idea anything like this existed!" is a phrase often heard from newcomers, who marvel at the intricacy involved in creating objects on such a small scale. Children and teens love doing the treasure hunts and the little ones get to play with a real dollhouse. In addition to a permanent collection, the Museum has rotating exhibits which change quarterly. If you are a miniaturist yourself you can visit our well-stocked shop (no admission fee necessary for shoppers.) Touring the Museum of Miniature Houses is a truly unique experience, one which the whole family can enjoy.

Expect to spend an hour oohing and ahhing and chuckling at the tiny surprising details in the houses and single rooms: the dog's bone left on the rug or the handprints on the towels . Even my 2 boys enjoyed looking for fun unexpected but realistic touches. The workmanship is outstanding

A really neat little gem in Carmel. If you are looking for something to do with visiting guests, this might be just the spot for an hour or two. I went with out-of-town guests who really enjoyed it. We had a fantastic hostess who made us feel so welcome. After her introduction, we were given headphones and allowed to tour... More

Only four such museums in the whole USA, definitely worth a visit. See a century of craftsmanship by American men and women in creating scale models of historic homes. Kids are welcome and get a treasure hunt sheet of paper. One boy and his father were having the best time. Lots to learn - engineering, science, math, history, art, design.... More

I had lived in Carmel for more than 15 years and had never visited the museum, though I had wanted to. It seemed the hours were sporadic. However, when my mother and I set our sights on visiting without fail, we got in at a decent hour and stayed for longer than one. The museum is just off the main... More

If you like dolls and doll houses, this is the perfect museum for you. It is the cutest little shop, and the houses and dolls are precious! I stumbled upon it while I was walking and window shopping, and it was such a delight!

Thank you for your review. It is important to us to keep offering new exhibits. Upcoming in October is Fashion Dolls from the Private Collection of Elizabeth Kraft Taylor, fifty dolls dressed in fabulous designer fashions by Jason Wu and others. More

We took our two oldest grandchildren (8 and 9) here recently, just to explore something interesting and different. The museum has a little quiz to take along as you walk through, (just for fun) and it tests your ability to find this or that among the various dollhouses. The kids enjoyed the challenge of searching for items. Several of the... More
