About
Wolf Park celebrates 50+ years of inspiring multiple generations of dedicated wildlife conservationists. In 1972, Purdue professor Dr. Erich Klinghammer established Wolf Park as a nonprofit wolf education and research facility. Today, Wolf Park lives and prospers on 75 acres of beautifully preserved rolling Indiana prairie 20 minutes from Lafayette/West Lafayette. Wolf Park is open for guided tours, summer camps, workshops, seminars, and special events. Visitors can hit the trail to see our resident ambassador wolves, foxes, and bison. Howl Nights offer visitors an up-close-and-personal view of our wolves and a chance to howl with the pack. Wolf Park's Visitor Center is open Sunday-Monday & Thursday-Friday 9:30–2:30 pm. Saturdays until 9 pm for Howl Night. General Admission- $5. Reservations are required for specialty tours. Book you next adventure: wolfpark.org

Loved our time at the Wolf Park. Went to an evening Howling event. Enjoyed seeing the beautiful animals, walking through the lovely space and hearing the interesting and entertaining talk.. a special highlight of ours during our walk was seeing /hearing the wolves howling so beautifully. So happy to support the wonderful organization while having a lovely evening.

The staff was very friendly and answered our questions as we took a tour around the park. It was a great experience for the kids. The weather was bad for us (rainy and sleet) but great for the wolves, so we saw them fairly active.
This was my second trip to Wolf Park and was worth the trip to look at foxes, wolves and bison as well as hear how the park is helping keep these beautiful creature thriving.
The gift store was wonderfully stocked full of stuff animals, book, sweatshirts, toys and postcards.
If you take a tour, your other fees are waved.

My father had adopted a wolf there that we could visit and we loved the whole experience. Now that my father is gone, I carry his love for the wolves and Wolf Park and plan on taking my loved ones there as well. Love this place so much!

Honestly this is one of the best things I have ever done or experienced. My boyfriend and I did the Wolf Ambassador Adventure and got to go inside the enclosure and be close to one of the wolves. The photographer and 2 amazing staff were with us at all times to answer questions and also lead us on how to interact with their wolf. 10/10 they were so friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. Please give this place your time and money for a great cause. I'm definitely gonna come back next year. Can't wait to see how the photos came out.

This is such a great place to visit and support! The animals are well taken care of and the staff is extremely knowledgeable and welcoming. My 9 year old son thoroughly enjoyed his experience and is already making plans to go back. Until then he sleeps with his little Niko stuffy dreaming of returning for a Howl Night. Our 1.5 hour drive was well worth it!

Looks like the animals are well taken care of and the facility is doing a nice job with its garden. I think it is great for kids but I think I was too well informed and have seen wild bison in the hundreds for the small number here to be impressive. I appreciate their efforts to educate and hope they keep up the good work. It was very hot the day we went so the animals were not very active because they are smart. Go when it is cooler.

Took my 13 year old grandchildren to the Park. I have been before. We attended both the educational and Howl night events. I must say they both enjoyed learning about the wolves, foxes and bison. The caretakers are knowledgeable and very caring. The answered all the questions anyone asked.

We had a wonderful time at Wolf Park! We initially purchased the $5 general admission, but within minutes knew we wanted to stay longer and learn more. Our admission fees were applied towards the tour cost, which I appreciated! The animals were very active and we were thrilled to hear the wolves howl. It’s best to go early or when it’s cooler to see more animal activity. Samm led our tour and did a wonderful job! Kids and adult both enjoyed our visit, and the gift shop prices were very reasonable too. We will definitely return.

It was terrible, $5 admission for each person including 4 year old kids, only get to walk 100 meters…. Everything else is blocked for the “tour”. We spent 2 mins there and spend $30 in admission, to see 2 fox locked in a box… I want them to refund my gas money. Why is this on 2023 choice rewards?

I love this place. I've been a member since 2018. I learn alot every time I visit. The tour guides are friendly and knowledgeable, and obviously love their jobs. The Follow The Pack tour is a pretty easy walk, about 3/4 of a mile on mostly flat unpaved dirt roads. And it's a pattern of walk for a minute or two, then stand and talk about the critters, then walk for another minute or two, then stand and talk about more critters. If it's been raining, it can get muddy. There IS a golf cart for those with mobility issues. The wolves are NOT trained
For the Howl Night presentation, we all sit in the bleachers (no walking). Be sure to bring a blanket or cushion to sit on - those bleachers get COLD, even in April! It's so exciting to get the wolves howling with us!

Thank you for the great, positive review. Yes, we did have a cold April- the wolves loved it! You made plans for a very good day at Wolf Park. Follow the Pack Tour and Howl Night- you covered your bases! So much to see and learn. We greatly appreciate your support, come back to see us soon!

It depends on what you are attending. General open hours with walking tours entail a 3/4 mile loop trail. You can choose to request a golf cart, at no additional fee, should this be a problem for you or someone in your group. Howl Nights do not entail walking as the program is primarily based on the bleachers located near the entrance. Special events will vary.

There are some campgrounds in the general Greater Lafayette area. One includes the Prophetstown State Park Campground.

I don't know. Best to ask the Wolf Park. When we visited I did not see anyone bringing a dog, so my guess is no.

Do you try yearly to breed wolves? I would love to sponsor a new pup in the future.
Written 31 July 2017
I don't think yearly. They have pups from 2 different unrelated litters that they plan to start a breeding program with as soon as they are old enough. The 3 ambassador wolf siblings you get to see up close and howl with have been neutered due to hereditary eye and heart problems.

Hi Sherry, I am wondering if you could tell me more about your visit to Wolf Park. I am considering a photo shoot day there and would love to hear about your experience. There isn't much on the web about this aside from wolf park's own explanation and weird youtube video of the guy with a camera rolling with wolves. This youtube video actually left me totally not wanting to go.
Thank you for your time.

I don't think you will be disappointed if you decide to go to Wolf Park if you have an interest in wolves (they also have coyotes, foxes, and bison). Monte Sloan is a superb photographer. He is very personable and more than willing to share his expertise. My visits to Wolf Park have all been as a seminar attendee and not for the photography event, but Monte was very much present during the entire three days of each event. You will find the entire staff very welcoming and helpful. They are also very focused on safety for the sake of both human and animals, so rules for interacting with the animals are strict, but reasonable. I haven't seen the video to which you refer, but my guess is that the guy rolling with the wolves is Monte. He is very much a favorite with them which certainly facilitates everyone's interactions with them.
Although they list hours for the photo shoot, Monte is expert in determining the best times of day to get good pictures and guides participants accordingly. In short, the Wolf Park staff want every visitor to have a rewarding experience, and go out of their way to see that that happens.
My favorite memory of my time at Wolf Park is when one of the young wolves climbed into my lap and another lay down and rested his head on my feet.

I think so, it rained a little while I was there. If you are going for a photo op, the rain is not going to help. Call the park.
