One of the most special (and oldest) national parks I have ever visited. A jewel located in Rwanda, with a huge chance to experience the wildlife from very close by. The trip from Kigali down to Akagera is also very worthwhile as it leads through the beautiful landscape of Rwanda. Best to visit in the rainy season, when animals are... More

We spent a night and we have a wonderful time. We got to see elephants, jirafs, zebras, hipos, cocodriles, bambus, bufalos. The boat trip was worth it too. We went with Uber Luxes Safaris, totally recommende

What a day spent at Akagera National Park! We rented a safari car for a day and it was wonderful. We saw all sorts of animals from giraffes, zebras, my favorite animal by far, Hippos, and many others. Exploring all the wildlife was amazing. This is a trip worth taking once in your life for sure. The interation you get... More

You need at least a full day here because the wildlife has to be sought out, and you have to be patient. The community guide was excellent (you can ask for one of these rather than one actually employed by the park), and he certainly knew his wildlife - he was passionate and enthusiastic. Three years ago it was difficult... More

Amazing experience! Giraffes, zebras, hippos, crocs, eagle, buffalos, impalas, monkeys, baboons, and much more. Plus amazing vistas! Pack plenty of water, snacks, and bug spray and you'll have an incredible time.

I absolutely love this park. It's beautiful, has stunning views and we saw tons of amazing animals! I'd recommend getting a guide if you're not familiar with the park. Camping is also a really cool option if you're into that. Very close to the capital of Rwanda, Kigali.

If it's your first time on a safari and in Africa, this may be a decent choice, otherwise it may be considered just a nice place for a picnic, as long as you don't plan on seeing many animals

Akagera won't give you the extensive animal variety of the neighbouring countries or South African parks, but the number of animals is increasing rapidly. Limits on the predator numbers despite the successful introduction of a lion pack supports this and we saw large numbers of elephant, zebra, antelope, hippo, birds, some giraffe and a serval

Not a large park by Kenya or S.A. standards but interesting none the less. Lots of animals and except for rhino, has most of the things that people have on their priority list. There are relatively few lions since they were only recently re-introduced and I am told that rhinos will be reintroduced soon. I didn't see elephants although we... More
