A romantic house and gallery set in beautiful riverside gardens. Ancient trees, bubbling brooks and rolling lawns frame this lovely old house. Crafted from a medieval priory, it is full of surprises, with art that intrigues and delights. Come back throughout the year to see different exhibitions in the gallery. Carpets of spring bulbs, a stunning walled rose garden, rich autumn leaves and a colourful winter garden make Mottisfont a feast for the senses all year round. There's space to run, jump and play, and always something for families to do.

We are lucky because we don't live too far away from Mottisfont and what a delight it is. The House itself is great to wander around & they often have art on display/sale. The volunteers who work there are very knowledgeable and enthusiastic/proud to show you around. The grounds are stunning at any time of the year. However, my favourite... More

Mottisfont is lovely National Trust property but it is in the smaller side. The walled garden is pleasant as is the winter garden. There are some lovely walks in the surrounding areas as well including the Millennium Walk around Spearywell Woods. In all fairness I would probably have given it a 3 rather than 4 if it were not for... More

I had seen an item on tv about Mottisfont Abbey and a current exhibition on Rex Whistler the 20th centuryartist and so decided to pay a visit. It was a cold wintry day, but we received a warm welcome from the staff who were very helpful in suggesting a plan for our visit including (if wanted) a timed ticket to... More

Visited Mottifont last year, lovely gardens with weeping willows over transparent streams running into the river test. The house is interesting with a lower level, rose gardens and a nice outdoor seating area to enjoy a cream tea. Afterwards there is a nice walk along the river to spot the fisherman's hut, and a few activites for young children. Recommend... More

Visiting from abroad I wanted to see the famous rose gardens. Even though it rained for 3 weeks continously in June, we still enjoyed the gardens immensely the blooms had been a little affected by the continous rain and wind but it was still a stunning garden to visit and gave me much thought and inspiration for planning a garden.... While visiting friends in the area they suggested a walk at Mottisfont ... we were delighted to encounter the 12 Days of Christmas displays (mostly outside, but some inside the house). Very nicely done, some were interactive (like the drummers), some were in the water, some hung from the trees. Also several nice cafes with tea and snacks. We were... More

We visited with my sister-in-law and two of our 3 great nephews, who thoroughly enjoyed going around both the house withers amazing ballerina dolls/puppets display. They also enjoyed the grounds and seeking out the hidden 12 days. A excellent pre-Christmas treat

We visited this property for the Christmas exhibition. The displays in the house were beautiful, the 12 Days of Christmas cake was fantastic and the huge Christmas tree amazing. Really loved the beautiful dancing ladies too. Also enjoyed following the 12 Days of Christmas trail. Staff were very friendly and helpful and all those involved should be congratulated on a... This was over priced. The house was uninspiring and dark. No information about it at all.. I feel £15 is over priced, Perhaps I have just been spoilt by Stourhead. On a positive though the volunteers were helpful and cheerful and there were plenty of them...

We visited on a very wet and cold New Year's Day with four adults and four young children. It had the potential to be a particularly painful day but the thought and care that's been put into this property made our visit great. The set up in the house was warm, cosy and inviting. The kids loved the party and... More
