We just had 4 days of wonderful camping. Great spot and in the one pic there are turkeys walking the trail next to our spot. Rodney was a big help and the camping host too! We will be back next month. Enjoy!

It's been supposed to be a major stay for us. We arrived around 1 pm and there were not too many cars at the main parking lot on a week-day. We went to the visitor center to grab a map as we wanted to see...More

Great to get away from the city and see nature but can become very crowded which kind of defeats the point of getting away from city life in the first place but it can still be relaxing my only complaint besides the crowds is that...More

The areas we hiked to were very interesting and scenic, but the day was not worth the crowds. Parking was packed at the Visitors Center, Lodge and Overflow a half mile away. Took almost 30 minutes to find a place to park. I will try...More

The drive in and out were exceptional. However the weekend was packed parking difficult and I had my granddaughter who was in a wheelchair. Getting around was difficult even by the lodge. Gift shops were so small could not easily maneuver around. The views were...More

If you are looking for a quiet, relaxing hike then this is not the park for you. A lot of people and children are talking and laughing on the trails. We did enjoy the views and the hike but, we are more of the kind...More

I have been to Starved Rock many times since it is so close to Chicago, but my husband and I were able to introduce it to our two nieces last week, who had never been hiking before. They really enjoyed it, but were surprised by...More

Our family of grammar school-aged kids finally found a place to be adventurous without a huge amount of risk. Starved Rock had trails to lead us exactly where we wanted to be. Planked and cemented paths seemed artificial but provided the footing that made me...More

My husband and I have stayed here several times and really enjoyed it. The is an upper loop that is great for RV'S; nice flat spots with plenty of room between campsites for the dogs to be comfortable. Quiet, no frills, electric only... but the...More
