The tour is amazing. Our tour guide was David and he did a great job! Not only did he explain everything in detail, but he also gave us recommendations for the area and regarding the spots for pictures. Would 100% recommend!

My family and I booked a tour to the Katla Cave. Upon arrival, we were told that we would be riding a smaller car than the super jeep advertised on the website due to the number of people doing the activity. We only got actually to be on the super jeep on our way back, but we missed so many of the views on our way to the Katla volcano.

The activity description indicated we would be going to the Katla Ice Cave. We never actually went inside the cave, nor did we receive the equipment necessary to enter it (e.g. Crampons).

We visited a much smaller formation of ice in which at most two people bent down would fit, definitely nothing like the pictures or videos that promoted this activity.

If you are trying to decide between this activity and snowmobiling, glacier walking, or whale watching, I highly recommend those activities instead of this one. My experience with other tour operators such as Arctic Adventures and Mountain guides was exactly as described if not better. Unfortunately, this was not the case with Troll Expeditions.

Just an amazing landscape. We remembered this glacier because it was one of the few that we could pronounce! But we were at her feet and then saw her from a distance. Quite memorable. I guess there are ice caves here in the winter but we were here in summer. We did stop in the area at Vik just to see the picturesque position of the church but it was really about the landscape.

Stunning organised trip to the ice caves.

Departing from Vik in a monster 4x4 takes about 30mins to the ice caves. Boot crampons provided for the short walk to the caves. Spent about 40mins in the cave and 20mins exploring the surrounding.

I’d suggest booking on to an early trip as by the time we were exiting there were 4 groups queuing to enter the caves.

This area is so extensive and it takes time to drive through the area. The colours of the moss on the lava field were surreal. In other areas it was like a moraine field. Glaciers are nearby.

Having been on a tour today we had Katla pointed out to us from a distance. Having heard of the damage this volcano is capable of seeing its sheer size only recon firms the potential this volcano has. I certainly didn't feel the need to get closer...
