The Golden Circle route is oh so famous that everyone going to Iceland wants to do it. What's special is that you get to visit a few landmarks along the way and that's about it. And it's by no suprise a good way for tour operators to snatch your money too as tours are pretty expensive! Here's how to avoid... More

The Golden Circle tour seems to be the one that everyone does in Iceland, and I see why. The route takes you around some amazing sights on the island which are all very unique. During our visit it rained most of the day, but most of it was while we were in the coach so it didn't spoil the experience... More

This area is super beautiful... its like the milky way mixed with greenery. The drive is smooth and there are many sites to see like Gullfloss. The Geyser scattered houses under hills of snow.. horses galloping and i think there is a building where ages ago the head of government met for meetings Plus there are stops for rest rooms... More

Even though it rained most of the day, the sights are so spectacular we still had an awesome day. We have seen many waterfalls, but Gulfoss is still spectacular. There was something awe inspiring for both of us being at Thingvellir where the tectonic plates are separating.

The Golden Circle is NOT to be missed. You'll see fissures, volcanoes, geysirs, glaciers, tomato green house, and Icelandic horses as well as fabulous Gull Foss falls.

You don't need long on each thing so hire a car before you go, pick it up at the airport, drive yourself around the golden circle following your phone map/sat nav. it's perfect as you don't have to wait around for a coach full etc...do things when you want to. less busier too. up to Gulfoss, then back down to... We done the golden circle route as part of a day tour, for people that don't have long in Iceland (like us) and want to see some of its beauty this is a great option. We had many different stops along the way, but be aware this route is busy and travelled by many tour companies and also individuals! All... More

We arrived Keflavik airport around 2340hrs and went to collect our rental car. Note: It's better to rent a 4wd than a 2wd. Started our journey around 0100hrs and stopped by the city to get some food and supplies. Went on to drive till we reached Þingvellir (Thingvellir) National Park and decided to camp out till sunrise. Woke up can't... More

When i say nothing special i mean it comparing to the other sites i have visited in Iceland(did the whole ring road).Maybe the most popular since it's close to Reykjavik but seen far nicer things that this 3 included.Especially Pingvellir national park which is more historical site rather then part of amazing nature Iceland has to offer.

To avoid all the tour buses and self drives, who head to Thingvellir National park first, head in the opposite direction towards Gullfoss Waterfall. Not only will you get to see it in a more relaxed way but the drive out from Gulfoss to the Geysir was beautiful and you will have time to take pictures of the snowcapped mountains... More
