Please see my review of the ring road, which is apparently a different much longer multi day route along the coasts.

The power of nature and the awe inspiring “big sky” views on this tour, seeing tectonic plates, lava fields, geysers and the largest waterfall in Europe make this a spectacular trip. Try and give yourself the maximum time you can to make the most of...More

We rented a 4x4 and did the trip ourselves, which allowed us as much time as we needed to stop at each place. We used our GPS but didn`t really need it, it is just one road, full with tourists and you can follow the road signs,...More

Great road conditions and the scenery made this one too remember. From Reykjavik you stop at Pingvellar, where the Tectonic plates meet of N America and the Eurasian. You can walk down the fault! Stopped to see some beautiful little Icelandic ponies on the way...More

We did this tour with our travel company, but it is easily accessible by independent tour companies. It is worth noting that even if it is above zero temperature in Reykjavik, it will be much colder up in the mountains. We left at 9pm where...More

Amazing experience and would recommend it! Paying £50 for the bus tour was well worth the breath-taking views.

I went with a cruise tour but I can tell you that gas stations are few and far between and the same goes for restaurants etc. It's a long day so just a few things to consider if you're planning on a self drive thing.

No, but they help. Some places are slippery and wet. I liked having low hiking boots.
