Don't miss this! We took an amphibious boat tour (zodiac tours were sold out but looked better and would have been our first choice if available) with a hilarious guide. Can't emphasize how otherworldly this place is.

Being along highway 1 you can not miss this highlight of any visit to Iceland. Plan to wonder from the parking lot (with WC and good enough restaurant) not just to the great ice berg filled lagoon but also walk under the bridge to the ocean. You'll be up close to the multi shaped ice blocks that have floated down... More

Amazing blues, greys, teals, opaque, translucent, clear. Close enough to touch. Took my breath away. Didn't take zodiac or duck boat, but you're right in it. Do not miss.

This place is something else. We didn't take the boat tour and I don't think we missed anything. The lagoon is right off the parking lot and you can walk along the shore and see the icebergs. When we were there they were quite close to shore. It was really quite amazing! If you go across the road to the... More

We actually got there right at sunrise to get an early start on our day. IT was very foggy so we took a short nap in our camper. When we woke up a bit later it was still foggy. But since it was so early the crowds were smaller. We did not take the boat tour and didn't feel like... More

As described many times before, the lagoon is a must see place in Iceland. Unfortunately that is also attracting a lot of unpleasant people. Writing their names on the icebergs, behaving like selfie obsessed fools in general. I just don't need women in bridal gowns climbing over icebergs. We witnessed not only one, but two Chinese tourists doing that. Also... More

The zodiac tour is definitely the way to go! Only a max of 9 people per boat (8 plus the captain). The zodiac can get closer to both the Vatnajokul Glacier and the floating ice! It's best to go on a cloudy day, as with all things, colour is more vibrant in photos with overcast days. Our guide also told... More

If you travel to island , you can not miss Jokulsarlon ! The most amazing thing I've seen. There can be found a restaurant, toilet for free. If you want to go on a ship or boat on the lake among the icebergs, you must book in advance via the Internet. If you do not have book a boat for... More

This place must be seen to be believed. If you're in the south, you can't miss it from highway One. See huge icebergs with glaciers in the background. There are no sufficient words, just go and have a look. We didn't go on the amphibious vehicle into the Lagoon and we didn't feel at all like we were missing out.

This place is just amazing. The icebergs are beautiful, set against the mountains and the beach. A must visit.
