This place completely blew me away. It's a long drive from Reykjavik. Break it up over two, even three days if you can. There are plenty of other sites to see along the way. Sample itinerary: Day 1: Golden Circle + Secret Lagoon Day 2: Keldur Turf House, Seljalandfoss & Skogafoss waterfalls, plane crash, Vik sandstone beach Day 3: Jokulsarlon... More

Jokaulsarlon ice lagoon is a glacial lake filled with a huge number of icebergs, remnants of calvings off the Breidamerkurjokull glacier (a tongue of the Vatnajokull ice cap). From the shore just off Highway 1 you can view and photograph the icebergs as they float by on their final journey under the Highway 1 bridge to the Atlantic ocean. Across... More

We drove in our rental car around 5 hours to get here but it was worth it. Unlike anything I've seen, it's not necessary to pay for a tour, you can get there easily and access the lagoon without a guide.

Took my breath away. In the top ten things I have seen in my life - and I have travelled extensively. I couldn't stop staring at it. Mesmerising. There are not the right words to describe its beauty. We went for a day trip. Well worth it even though it was a long way. Would recommend to everyone!

Just out of this world. The ice was so beautiful and even in November it was not that cold. Just dress for it: Long underwear base + pants, snow pants if you have them. Don't forget your yaktrax too! The beach was beautiful as well. We hiked along the lagoon for quite some time. I don't think I have experienced... More

I've never seen icebergs and its natural beauty before in my life and was able to cross this off my bucket list! The drive out here was quite long from Reykjavik ---a good 3-4 hours (each way) with mini-stops in between. It definitely helped that there were 5 of us taking turns driving to & from the Lagoon. Again, it... More

A long drive but worth it. A fantastic vista and guaranteed amazing photo opportunities. You can get very close to the glacier/ice and when we were there we saw a couple of seals playing. If you see one thing in Iceland it should be this (and the beach on the opposite side of the bridge that's an easy walk)

We spent a short while on the shore of this lagoon, and if there weren't a sight-seeing option by boat, it still would have been amazing. But getting onto the amphibious boat on land, driving along a road, then plunging into the lagoon was terrific. A zodiac operator is hovering close by at all times for safety, and the water... More

Most awesome sight. The blue color of the ice against the sky is just incredible. I could have stay the whole day if not for the strong wind. A short 2 minute drive is the stunning diamond beach. The crystal like ice against the setting sun will leave you speechless. Definitely worth the long drive to witness such a beautiful... More
