A very good small temple. People normally go there after bath at Gangasagar. Old temple structure has drawn in waves but statues are old one. A market for pooja is developed there. I wish there be some more cleanliness and public transport as dependent on private vehicles or E-rickshaws.

It is the main temple complex of the Gangasagar island.located less than one Km distance from the bathing sea- beach.Mainly devoted to Muni Kapil, whose Idol is in the center, and on his Rt side is Ma Ganga and on Lt side is idol of king sagar-whose 60000 sons were burned to ashes by the rage of Kapilmuni.Besides their are other small sanctoms with idols of Ram Darbar, Sankat mochan Hanumanji , Shiv Darbar, Narisingh Bhagwan , Goddesses Durga ji and Kali ji.,Aswamedh horse .Ambience in and around the temple is very neat and clean .Piligrim first take holy bath in the nearby sea them come to this temple for darshan.

Kapil Muni was born as an incarnation of lord Vishnu and became a great saint. Kapil Muni's ashram is located on the sagar island. raja sagar on left and maa ganga on right and kapil muni is in middle . king sagar:s ashwamedha horse was tied here by indra ,but king sagars sons thought kapil muni has stolen them .kapil muni got angry and all 60000 sons were burnt to ashes.. to find moksha for 60000 grandsons, bhagirath did tapasya and bring ganga here ,,and all 60000 sond attained moksha.... idol of horse is also present .. I was here after Rakshabandhan festival with family.
The temple premisis is very good.
It was less crowdy in this season.
I had worshiped and took darshan very easily.
There are two options to go Gangasagar and Kapil Muni temple.
From train, we have catch train from Sialdah railway staion Kolkata at 5.20AM or 7.15AM to reach Namkhana or Kakdwip railway station.
Another option is by bus.
I took a bus from Esplanade Kolkata to kakdwip. It took time 3.30 hours.
After that I went to ferry ghat with auto ricksaw to catch a ferry (Big boat) to reach Kuchberia ghat (sagar Island). Then I took a shared vehicle (Magic) to reach Kapil Muni temple which is around 35 km from kuchberia ghat.
I took bath at Gangasagar beach, then I took darshan at main Temple.
It is very difficult to return on same day, if any one want to return as me, then take return ferry from another vessel point named BENUBAN. Because Ferry is not operating after 2.15 Pm from Kuchberia ghat almost every day.But from Benuban, you can get ferry at 4.00 PM also.
Here, I got ferry at 3.00 pm to reach Namkhana railway station at 4.00 PM to return back to Kolkata as train is at 4.30 PM.

It was a good journey.
Really a worth visit.

We started our journey at 9am from Howrah station via a private prepaid car rented for entire day. Headed to reach Kakdweep which took 4.5 hrs due to the ONLY jammed road that connects the city to Kakdweep. We reached there by 13.30hrs and to add to our surprise got to know the ferry services to Kuchberia is suspended due to low tide since 10am that morning. There was no proper system or management for any announcement, waiting area, washrooms were filthy, and the crowd was magnanimous. after reaching Kucheberia or sagar island in 45mins we booked a van for 1200rs (return journey included) for 4ppl and headed 35kms ahead to Kapil Muni temple. They advised to do a battery-operated autorickshaw to reach till the island, which we did for 400rs, but honestly if you'll can walk 1km distance please avoid taking any auto services and save money. the glimpse of that vast sea/ ocean made us forget all our day's tiredness and we took the holy dip at around 6pm. The management here is not at all traveler friendly as there are no lockers/ proper changing room facility available which becomes a challenge specially for females. Do visit Kapil Muni temple and proceed to the return journey in the very reverse manner. There was something divine in that water that made us connect to the purity of this nature there and made us feel absolutely refreshed while returning. The saying is true.. Saare Tirth Baar Baar- Gangasagar Ek Baar...

This is the only temple around the Holy Gangasagar where devotees offer prayers to Kapilmuni, Bhagirath and Holy Ganges.
