A very professional operation. Questions are encouraged and explanations given. Preparing a hot air balloon for launch is a group effort with everyone being given little jobs to do, which is interesting and serves to heighten the anticipation.

The flight is so smooth and serene, particularly when the burner can be left off for a minute or two.

One is always assured of good weather because hot air balloons have a pretty small operational window and you have to be philosophical if provisional bookings are repeatedly cancelled owing to unfavourable weather.

But we hope to make this an annual event!

After six attempts at arranging a flight last year, last Wednesday evening was perfect ofr the flight from the lamer Tree gardens.
Colin the pilot was excellent with a calm confident approach giving the flight briefing simply and clearly. With the crew the balloon was laid out and we helped with the inflation which took about 50 minutes. Then off we went up into the clear evening air with views over Dorset and Wiltshire. During the flight Colin gave us details of where we were and then passed round the champagne!
Once the chosen landing sight was determined we all landed with very little commotion!
"Garry"c the crew found us with the landrover as we were packing up the canopy. Having loaded the balloon and basket on the trailer we were driven back to the Lamer Tree to collect our cars and receive the flight certificate.
What an experience I would thoroughly recommend anyone to have a go,even if you don't like heights, because you do not feel unsafe at any time.
What a great evening. Thank you to all who helped to arrange such a wonderful evening.

It took a few attempts to get on a flight because this is a very weather dependant activity. This information was managed very well by the company with good comms and email/phone/website info.
We were welcomed by the team at the meeting place ( a pub in Shaftesbury) on time in a very professional manner. They then drove us in their mini-bus to the launch site (Sherbourne)which was a good opportunity to chat with our fellow passengers. The launch site was then managed very professionally, with lots of safety instructions, guidance and hands-on involvement in launching the balloon.
The ride was amazing, so peaceful and tranquil as we drifted across the beautiful Dorset/Wiltshire/Somerset countryside. Preparations and instructions for landing were very clear and we felt very safe (we landed near Wincanton). We were involved in packing up the balloon...and a glass of champagne. The minibus then met us and drove us back to the pub for certificates and photos.
All in all...a fantastic experience.
