The visitors center overlooks and through various exhibits, explains the workings of an Illinois River lock. Great place to watch barge traffic and boaters in the summer. In the winter it is the best place to Eagle watch. The open water below the dam attracts...More

This was stop on our trolley tour, but we needed more time . The elevator did not work, this was problem because lots of steps. Very knowledgeable guide onsite. Well marked exhibits.

We liked the educational activities and the observation deck. Had the opportunity to watch a barge go through the locks.

We made a 20 minute stop at this location on a tour we were part of. The view is wonderful and worth the time to park and stop. If you are in to history, you will enjoy.

Interesting little place to view the dam and lock system from inside or outside. Tower viewers (mounted binoculars) on the deck do not require coins.
