One of the great things about Oak Park is there are several examples of FLW's Prairie School Style. We ate lunch in the commercial corridor on Lake Street and then walked the neighborhood to the FLW house at the intersection Forest and Chicago. Along the way we saw several of his houses. At home gift shop they have a map you can by that shows the houses and provides information on them. Again we found it to be a fun activity in the neighborhood of Oak Park.

We took the FLW audio tour of the neighborhood. Ten homes are viewed from the street as the homes are private homes. It was a wonderful view of his style in various situations- low to high cost expansive to compact and remodels.

As an architect, it was great to see all of the Wright houses in such close proximity to each other, and of course, they are beautiful!

10 properties (9 homes + the Unity Temple). Half were designed by FLW, the others were of the same period and equally as interesting. Most of the house were within a couple blocks of one another. So although a Trolley was available to get from one area to another, it truly was a walkable tour for the most part. We were told they sold out at 2500 tickets. There were lines up to 30+ minutes at some of the 'first time open' properties, but we were able to see nine of the ten properties in the eight hours they were open. If we hadn't stopped for an hour for lunch, we could have seen them all. We were told that although FLW's Studio/Home + the Unity Temple are always included, the others change each year. I have to say, it was one of the most well organized one day events I have ever attended. The docents in all of the properties were quite knowledgeable. It was well worth the ticket price.

Through happenstance I was the only one on the housewalk so I got very personal attention. My guide has been doing the tours for 30 years and was terrific. Great way to see Wright’s work! Highly recommend.

We were lucky enough to score 2 tickets to the annual Wright Plus Walk in Oak Park. This annual event gives fans of Frank Lloyd Wright the opportunity to tour 8-10 building designed by Frank and other Chicago architects. The volunteers are plentiful and knowledgeable. There are lines at most homes, but the volunteers keep you moving without rushing you.
Get there early so that you’re in line at the first house when the tour starts at 9:00. Bring snacks and beverages to consume while waiting in line. If you break for lunch, you won’t have time to see all of the buildings, and you’re not going to want to miss a thing.

We went last Saturday for a tour of Frank Lloyd Wright designed homes in Oak Park. Firstly the neighborhood and pretty well every home in it is beautiful. I never really understood before what made Wright's architecture so special but left with a great understanding and appreciation. The neighborhood is very walkable with many good restaurants near the Unity Temple.

You will gain a great perspective on this tour. As you travel from house to house the docent will educate you on the use of light and the ways that Frank Lloyd Wright was ahead of his times.

My buddy and I took the self-guided audio tour of the F L Wright-designed building in the vicinity of Wright's home and studio. The audio devices worked perfectly and we were able to stop halfway through and have lunch on Lake Ave. before returning to the gift shop. The houses were nice to look at but I wouldn't want to live in any of them.

Very well versed volunteers; so much wonderful information is shared and in such great detail. Tours allow for time to visitors admire the Frank Lloyd Wright home and ask questions. Interesting details of the other homes on the tour were discussed; plenty of time to ask questions. Great walk of this historic neighborhood.
