The Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio served as Wright's private residence and workplace from 1889 to 1909--the first 20 years of his career. Here Wright developed a new American architecture: the Prairie style. Trained interpreters offer insights into Wright's family life and architectural career. Enjoy guided tours of the museum complex and neighboring historic district seven days a week. Tour details are available on the Frank Lloyd Wright Trust website.

This was a bit of a trek outside the city. Taxi was about $30, uber about $20, but it is worth the trip. You could drive it and there is street parking. The house and studio are amazing and display the brilliance that is one of the worlds greatest architects. If you like history, then this is a must see.

Touring the Frank Lloyd Wright home offers an intriguing insight into his early life. He wanted daylight for his staff architects, but didn't want them looking outside, so placed the windows high upon the wall. He wanted piano music, but didn't want to lose the space, so suspended a piano above a stairwell! He abandoned his young family to live... More

If you're a Frank lover (like I am!), you won't be disappointed. This place will take you to the very beginning. I'm glad this plas has been salvaged. The guides are very knowledgeable and passionate. My favorite place in Chicago! 10/10.

I had recently been introduced to his work by a podcast so was keen to visit and I would recommend to anyone with an interest in clever livable design and architecture. The tour was well presented and the guide very knowledgeable and able to answer all our questions. The neighbourhood around had lots of other great properties and stops for... More

You don't even have to be a lover of Frank to enjoy seeing his home and studio. A genius in the making! Be sure to take a walk around the neighborhood and see some of his handiwork.

Touring the FLW home and studio was the highlight of my last trip to Chicago. Take the green line to Oak Park and walk .8 miles to the location. If you head toward the house straight north from the rail station you will even pass the birthplace of Ernest Hemingway (a bonus for me). The tour begins in the gift... More

Great tour. Not too long, and not too many people. A great way to appreciate his work. Important to reserve in advance since its a good 30 mins west of the centre by train, and not a lot else to see in this posh suburban area. Given some of the urban wasteland you pass through on the way to Oak... More

Been wanting to visit for a very long time, and finally was able to see and experience first hand the talent and vision of FLW. Simply stunning - and for me well worth the effort - although the weather was very wet and unpleasant, we were able to quickly enjoy the outsides as well. The tour guide made the tour... More

This is the testing grounds for FLW's most famous architectural style. Be sure to reserve a tour. Pro tip: If you buy the membership, you get a +1 and can visit any of the other tours too!

We went in late winter on a weekday, parked easily for free on the street right in front of the home, and had passes (versus buying tickets before or when arriving). When you have passes you cannot make reservations but we easily got on the next tour at noon, there were only 5 people. The docent, Amy, was very knowledgeable,... More
