This was on one of our day tours from our Viking River Cruise. Very informative place to understand the story of Water and the Netherlands, and some of the disasters, and successes, of living in a country where 40 % of the land is below sea level ! A lot of information on the flood in 1953, where 1800 people... More

This was a very interesting and realistically informative museum about the tragic flooding which suddenly occurred both here and in England. Everything was gone so quickly but from this tragic event came a ingenious invention called The Delta Works so that this would not happen again. The layout of the museum has a great flow and their gift shop is... More

Visiting this museum makes you silent with respect. The incredible power of the sea is documented, of course, but also the will of the people, not just to survive, but to rebuild their cities and villages. And, most of all, how this major disaster was turned into an opportunity to develop Zeeland, one of the most thriving regions I know.

The museum is housed in the 4 caissons used to stop the flow of water from the dyke break in the 1953 storm and flood. It was terrific and had explanations in both Dutch and English. If you go, be sure to watch the news reports -- they are unreal. My kids were amazed at the quality of the news... More

It doesn't look like much from the outside, but the exhibits in the Caissons are of high quality. The introductory film is very moving and the format of the 4 caissons moving from the 1953 disaster to the rebuilding and preparations for the future works well. Staff are friendly and helpful. The volume of photographic material is huge and it... More

Nice interesting place but extrem arrogant people (except. cafeteria). Starting at ticket counter to the shop at the end of the museum and if you want to turn back from there. employees seem to long for their time off already 30min before closing. I just was kicked out!

Arriving at the Watersnoodmuseum which is a collection of four World War 2 Mulberry Harbours (caissons)it is hard to believe that you are standing at the exact location of the dyke breach in 1953. Today the caissons lie in a landscaped grassy field and the force of the North Sea is held back by the Eastern Scheldt Barrier over 20... More
