I've been to "Lincolnshire" (as we locals tend to call it) dozens of times. Allow me to give you this assessment of what you should expect beyond the many good reviews here. Easiest way is to think of it as AAA baseball.
AAA baseball is the upper echelon of the minor leagues. The stop that the best players make days or weeks before they hit the majors. And where some on any given day are just as good or maybe even better. Plus a few solid performers who stay in place. The analogy to baseball is particularly fitting because these days it's difficult to see a bad production here. Some are better than others, a few not too great and a few are as good or better than you'll see anywhere else.
Think of the days when the Chicago Cubs would play their AAA farm team and the AAA team would win. There are a few shows here that are like that. Most are in the category of the players on the cusp of the majors and almost all of the rest are still worthwhile. For the price, it's hard to beat.
Locals hint: It can get cold in the theater so be prepared.

If you want to experience theater in a more intense way, theater in the round does that. The way actors move in and out of scenes from the audience and play to all four walls makes the theater feel alive! We saw West Side Story and it was amazing! The technical crew should get a round of applause for the lighting and set designs. The actors were fantastic and the orchestra was clear and not overpowering. It truly is a better experience than traditional theaters.

Just attended West Side Story production. Best ever! The theater is requiring proof of vac or neg tests results. Mask on!

Theater in the round, 8 rows deep- not a bad seat. Lots of legroom, 15 min intermission. Parking for regular folk is good with easy in and out. Like Drury Lane or Northlight but with better parking.

Just went to see 'Oliver!' here and had a nice experience - especially with the fact you can see Off Broadway level performances right here in the Northern Suburbs. The good is that the theater is intimate and in-the-round so almost every seat is a good view and experience. I'm sure the quality of performance varies from show to show, however for this one the cast was very good. The child actors were truly outstanding and a handful of the adults were stand out performers with the rest likely using acting as a hobby. The seats are mostly comfortable except for the front rows towards the aisles as I noticed with the floor on a deep angle which means very little comfortable leg room. For those with trouble walking up stairs (as there are three flights worth just to get inside the theater!), there is a lift available that drops you to a smaller lobby off of the aisle between section 1 & 4. Keep this in mind as those with walking issues will have difficulty traversing the aisles if they're seating in section 2 & 3, Concessions stand is tiny. It was a nice experience - just don't expect Broadway or West End level which is fine. Pricing for the tickets should remain as is ~$52/seat for night performances. Anything higher and I would go elsewhere.

What a great show! Fabulous cast. The young actors were outstanding. This was a Sunday afternoon holiday treat for our family. The theater is charming and has easy access.

We were at Marriott Theater recently for Oliver! It was absolutely fantastic. The performance was great. The actor playing Oliver Twist was fantastic. Kai Edgar was playing the roll on this visit, and he was excellent. Amazing that an eight year old had such emotion and his was singing was excellent. The venue was excellent as well. It is such a intimate setting. We were sitting on an aisle and at the beginning of the show when the boys are singing "Food Glorious Food" they were right next to us. So cool. It was our first visit to Marriott Theater, and we will definately be back.

99%of the plays are excellent. Only one was very poorly written, but the actors were great. Seating is great for viewing anywhere.

I have never been disappointed for the plays put on in the theater. We just saw Something Rotten and it was very funny. It is worth checking out the subscription series. Always something new or a different flavor of something you may have seen as a movie. Highly recommend!

No matter what you go to see your seats are going to be good ~ this is set up like a theatre in the round, it is not so large that if you are in the back you can't see, any seat is a good seat!

For the performance of Million Dollar Quartet is one section better than another to be facing the performers? I wouldn't want to be seeing the backs of performers or props during this show.

The theater is set in the round and the performers and props use the aisles during the plays so you always have a great view of the stage and at times a great view of the performers close to you. Enjoy the play!

Hi TammyZoll - The suggestions here are great. Our patrons did a nice job at assisting you. Our cuisine at the resort is farm-to-table and locally sourced where ever possible from our own 2-acre farm here at the resort. However, right now the resort restaurant and bar are unfortunately under renovation. Enjoy the show at The Marriott Theatre, as there is not a bad seat in the house. Thanks!

I would definitely go to Wildfire since they have great fish, steaks and my favorite...lamb chops. The food is always wonderful and you're only 5 minutes from Marriott. I suggest you make a reservation...enjoy!!

They are all good seats, but I have been to see many shows and one section is definitely the front where a larger portion of the show is focused. Which section is that for this show.
This is my dates first show there and I want to make sure we have the best seats possible.
Thank you,
Gary

Show is well distributed. But. The majority of scenes do face toward what is essentially the front entrance of the the perfume shop. That entrance is toward stage walkway that is to the right of the orchestra enclosure. So I would shoot for getting low near the isle between section 4 and 1. I would try for low in section 4 as near the isle of section 1 as you can.

Dress code?
Julie B
Lincolnshire, IL2 contributions
Thank you to all the Trip Advisor reviewers for giving great advice to JPKell2. The dress code is meant to be on the dressy side at the theatre rather than casual. Some theatre fans dress up with dresses or sports coats, however, nice slacks and blouse for the ladies and dress pants and a collared shirt for the gentleman would also be appropriate. Thank you for your support of the Marriott Theatre!

Where are the best seats?

My opinion is that there are no bad seats. The theater is "in the round," and it is staged in such a way that you don't feel like the actors' backs are to you.

How long is the average production, two hours or so?

General productions run 2.5 hrs with a 15 min. Intermission. Children productions are usually 1 to 1.5 hrs.
