This is So Cool! It's HUGE! Was a delight to see! My adult daughter was shorter than wagon wheel, Yes it's that BIG! Seriously not far from interstate, take an Adventure! Journey here & to the phone booth on top of a building that was operating in the war time too! :)

This is a gigantic covered wagon with a giant figure of Abe Lincoln sitting in the driver's seat. It is located in front of the Best Western Motel just off Bus. I-55 and is not very far from the main I-55. There is a sign explaining who commissioned it and when and where it has been during it's life. We... More

this is a halfway meeting place from my boss and I! My 2 year old came a long and this was a great place to stretch it out before the drive home. This thing is huge.

We were nearby and needed to stretch our legs, this was a great place. It's fun to see people who take pride in the area they live. I wouldn't drive a distance out of the way to visit, but if you're within a few miles, you should stop.

A fun photo opportunity to take a photo or gaze at what is the largest covered wagon in the world. It is a very quick detour off the Interstate and is in the combined parking lot of the local American Legion and the Best Western. There are a few benches donated by the local authorities and a plaque with some... More

Recognized by the Guiness Book of World Records as the "World's Largest Covered Wagon" and rated as top roadside attraction by Readers Digest, the Railsplitter and Abe Lincoln welcome visitors to city named after him. Donated by well-know Lincoln philanthropist Larry Van Bibber, this is easy on/off and in front of the Best Western: 1750 5th St., Lincoln, IL.

On seeing it, my first question was 'Why!'. On stopping my next question was 'Why not!'. As with a lot of things you see going down the old Route 66 it is quirky and big. Built by a man who was getting over a heart attack, though it doesn't say why he chose to build a 24ft plus covered wagon!!... More
