I saw this site listed on one of those quirky "roadside attraction" websites, and it made it sound a bit disappointing. But it wasn't! This is really, really well done and impressive! It's not just the Lincoln cabin. There are barns and another farm and live animals! They weren't very busy when I was there...probably due to the early part... More

We were in the area visiting family and were so happy to hear about this museum. My daughter is very interested in Abraham Lincoln and his family, so this was a must stop. The visitors center had wonderful displays and information about Thomas and Sarah Bush Lincoln and their family. The children loved playing with the interactive games and clothing.... More

I was surprised by how developed this place is. I expected a lot less than what is there. I recommend if highly.

I have been going here for years and love it. On the weekends they sometimes dress in period clothing, cook on the fire....Nice place out in the country. They also have a Harvest Frolic in late September.

Interesting site; however, not an Abraham Lincoln log cabin. This is the cabin of Tom Lincoln & his family Still a nice demonstration of life in the 1800s, including sheep roaming free around the grounds. Beautifully kept grounds & little museum. 70 miles round trip off the highway. I wouldn't take the time on dirt roads in the rain to... More

We really enjoyed this side trip on our way through Illinois. Off the beaten path but worth the time. Very interesting and well maintained. There are people in period costumes. There are animals to see and a nice little museum. Admission is free. Donations are suggested.

Love Illinois History? Don't miss this hidden gem. 8 miles south of Charleston is the Lincoln log cabin farm and visitor center. In the visitor center you view a 15 minute video taking you back to Illinois of 1845 and the history of Thomas Lincoln. There is also a small museum which further explains the life of the farmer in... More

We are moving from VA to CO and along the drive stopped off at the home of the father of Abraham Lincoln. It was a great side trip. It was closed but folks were there working and let us into the visitor center to look around, sign in and get a brochure. We could then walk the property to take... More

This was Abraham Lincoln fathers farm when they moved to Illinois. Lincoln continued to Springfield but made regular visits. The are several fully restored buildings on the site and several picnic sites.

This was a pleasant family outing. You can walk through the log cabin, which was larger than I had expected, considering the family was poor. The workers dress in the garb of the day. The visitor's center has wax figures throughout that speak to you in the "language" of the times. The farm has roosters, hens and cows. My granddaughters... More
