Great hike

Pretty stop in the Shawnee National Forest. Great rock formations and lots to see. Trail was fairly easy---some of it was a bit slippery as it had just rained.

Very nice hike, and the vews were very cool, especially from the top of some of the rocks. Highly recommended if you like hiking.

Beautiful scenery and well kept trail around the rock formations. No other place like it. No litter and very clean.

This would be a beautiful place to hike in the fall. We were there in January, so the trees were not much to look at, but climbing on the rocks was fun! I would not recommend it for small children, as it would be extremely hard to push a stroller on the uneven walkway(actually there are places a stroller would... More

If your into scenic cliffs and beautiful forest then this is the place for you. Gotg's has some of the most beautiful trails in southern Illinois with skill levels from novice to advanced it sure to meet your expectations. The best advice I can give is be careful around cliff edges especially when dew is on rocks as several people... More

Such a beautiful place. I've been there twice. First time without my two children. It wasn't as busy due to small showers so it was a perfect time to see the fall colors with an amazing sunset. Prior to sunset we went below and hiked. Second time with kids I was on constant lookout even though my six year old... More

If your looking for something unique in nature, Garden of the Gods is worth the drive. Very unique. Things to know: 1. There are no restaurants or bars nearby, bring what you need. Facilities are basic. 2. Go anytime of the year. It's that spetacular. 3. Go only when it's dry, the wet rocks & paths can be dangerous. 4.... More

We visited Garden of the Gods mid November, so it wasn't nearly as busy as we expected. We arrived around 9am, so I'm sure that helped. There are so many little paths of the main trail that you can climb out onto rocks to get unbelievable views. We packed a lunch and found a wonderful little spot (there are so... More

This is a moderate walk through beautiful rock formations and lovely scenic views. The walk is only about a quarter of a mile or so but take your time to look around and take in the lovely place. There is a picnic area nearby.
