You'll never forget your first sight of Blickling. Sitting in a magnificent garden and park is a breath-taking mansion, flanked by ancient yew hedges. Past owners have used the estate as a refuge while performing on the world's political stage. Philip Kerr, the last private owner, helped shaped the National Trust's history, using his influence to find a way of saving great country houses for future generations to enjoy. Until his death in 1940 he used the house for entertaining his prominent guests; and photographs, sounds and objects help to tell his story. Outside, the formal garden is the result of three centuries of inspired planting, and the gently undulating historic parkland is great for exploring.

This house is stunning from the outside and really good inside too. There is also the biggest NT book shop in the country, plus great gardens, plant sales, a stamp shop and of course both a restaurant and cafe. A must see if you are in the area.

As an avid NT subscriber, visiting the local properties is a no brainer when visiting a new town (Sheringham) and the Blickling is no exception - a stunning building and gardens

This definitely has the wow factor . Breathtaking as you approach. Beautiful gardens with lake, temple ,dell etc. I went when the bluebells were out. The café staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was very good and homemade. The house itself is just so interesting. Lovely Jacobean ceilings . The room staff were so informative especially Robert who... More

Having been to Blicklling hall a few times in the past i must say it seems to have progressively got better over time with more conservation work being carried out on the main house and grounds. Overall its well worth a trip out to have a wander around the estate grounds and a stop off in the well maintained cafeteria... More

We took our young grandchildren twice on a Saturday and once on Sunday morning - two consecutive days. Each time there was something different for them to see. The tulips were beautiful. We just visited the gardens and not the house

Hadn't been here for years, and it was lovely to see the place again. We got parked and had a cup of coffee in the cafe near the car park. Then walked round to the house, which is always wonderful as you walk between the wings. House is very well maintained and the stewards are all well informed. We didn't... More

Took a 93 year old mum to see Blickling house and the surroundings. Have been many times before and it's always a pleasure to see the house and gardens.

Good place, building sensational and gardens beautiful. Just not sure at all at the fifteen pounds. Not nearly enough to fill a full day that you couldn't do for free. Walking the perimeter fence would be just as good to look at. Understood we need to preserve history so not a major criticism.

We made our first visit to blickling today.. what a beautiful place. We started our day with coffee at the entrance coffee shop followed by the orange walk. What a lovely walk so relaxing. Just over the 4 mile mark not to much effort needed. We then visited the house.. amazing. The staff were lovely and on hand if you... More

It is great to hear that you found your visit to Blickling was value for money; as you say, there is plenty to do in the house and gardens as well as relaxing walks through our bluebell woods. Catering is very difficult to get right, as it is important to us that food is not wasted, so we’re afraid that... More
