The green drapes from "Gone with the Wind" are one of the many interesting items on display at this 22-room Italianate-style home. Built in 1857, the mansion now exhibits period furnishings and also includes items from the estate of flamboyant entertainer Liberace.

This home is certainly a treasure for Galena. As others have said it has a lot of furniture and decorative items in the home but many are from the period of the home (belter furniture), There is a Tiffany dining light fixture and a very...More

First off 12 dollars is not a lot of money compared to almost any tour. Second, almost nothing in this house is "junk" its an unbelievable assortment of stuff that is one of a kind or priceless. Yes most of it is not true to...More

After we paid our entry fee, we discovered that this home is privately owned by an individual, and serves as a collection area for his huge antique collection, all jammed in to this home. It was nice to see some of this historic collection, but...More

This was an interesting tour. The house is privately owned and the owners live there. The guides told us about the house and where some of the furniture came from but it was packed with stuff and I'm sure it didn't depict how residents lived...More

We enjoyed our tour. There is not a lot of Galena history beyond the house structure itself, but the collection by the owner more than made up for that fact. It was interesting to see and worth the time.

This isn't about history. It seems to be about some collectors who have stored purchases in every inch of space in a large hodgepodge of rooms and charging a rather steep admission fee (for what you get).

The outside of this house is beautiful and ornate, the inside is filled with museum quality furnishings, paintings and objects. The interior is well maintained and the downstairs docent had a sense of humor as he showed us through the house and talked about the...More
