We went here this past week, and the museum is closed down. It is partially dismantled already. I don’t know why they decided to shut it down. Someone mentioned that it was costly to maintain. The museum is kitty corner to the first McDonald’s that...More

The McDonald's Corporation decided that it was better to tear down the structure than to donate it to the City of Des Plaines. The building was in a frequent flood zone and was demolished in December of 2017.

It was the 4th of January 2018 and we happened to stop at the McDonald's across the street and looked over to the McDonald's #1 Store Museum only to find that there were at least two cranes and a demolition crew. They had begun to...More

The boomers in the group enjoyed the peek through the gate of this roadside attraction, but the millennials resorted to eyerolls. The attraction has very limited to opening hours, but it's still worth a stop.

First McDonald's restaurant, still standing. Now world wide, largest fast food company in the world. A lot of competitors today but still #1

Interesting to drive by and/or park across the street and have a look at the early McDonald's. People should view with some skepticism, however, as this is not really the real "#1 McDonald's". Despite what the Ray Kroc empire would have people believe, the real...More

Things McDonald's is clean, the food is prepared with care, and the staff is friendly. The service is fast, and they always get my order right.

Well, consider that this is the ninth McDonald's every built and the first one by Ray Kroc, who would go on to build an empire. This particular McDonald's was opened on April 15, 1955. Currently, there are more than 37,000 McDonald's restaurants throughout 120 countries...More
