Neighbourhood: Downtown / The Loop
Often visitors' first stop in Chicago, The Loop is a good starting point to sample the city's energy and flavor. This central business district boasts Michelin-rated restaurants, upscale hotels, premier shopping, and enough arresting architecture to keep your camera busy for hours. You won’t find too many photo galleries of downtown Chicago without a shot of Millennium Park and Cloud Gate (“The Bean”), one of the most iconic landmarks in the city. A stunning skyline coupled with cultural attractions like the Art Institute of Chicago present a Downtown where work and play peacefully coexist.

Block 37 has been getting busier in Summer 2023: new stores open, new services are being added, several fast- and quick food cafes and stands are now open on different levels of the mall. The mall Directory has been updated (Food Fashion Films), Customer Service Desk has also been quite helpful, giving the accurate info on various businesses in the mall.

One of the innovative entertainment features in Block 37 is the holographic theater Verse Immersive (Level 1), that opened to public in spring 2023, making the augmented reality available to public.

I always enjoy spending some time in Block 37: there are various clothing stores, cosmetics shops, factory stores, AMC Dine-in Theatres (Level 4), there are many spacious, well appointed rest areas, and clean restrooms. The mall looks fresh and modern!

Block 37 is located in the center of Theatre District in Chicago Loop; there are many other shops and nice restaurants in this area.

For those staying in The Loop that is a good option for eating, they have fast food and a few restaturants. It is not a big mall but the stores are ok, the most wanted brands take place here. Good experience.

The indoor mall of Block 37 on State Street is a multi-story mall of contemporary design, with various shops, access to which is provided by escalators and glass elevators. There's a dine-in movie theater on the upper floor of the mall (Level 4), and also several restaurants -- for casual dining, mainly.

As a consequence of the pandemic, a very popular restaurant Latinicity is closed now (not sure, temporarily or for good), several stores are gone too, but some new ones are either open already, or they've been announced to open in the near future. The mall has a set of useful info-boards on each floor, plus many rest areas with chairs and tables, that are now placed even more distantly, than before. A very large and spacious atrium, now decorated for winter holidays, also adds volume and appeal to the comfort of the mall.

In the shops that I visited, the attendants were wearing masks, and public places on different floors were regularly cleaned.

Shops of Block 37 are located in the center of Theatre District of the Chicago Loop, and they attract visitors pretty much any time of the day, since it is a very busy part of town.

Great location but sparsely occupied. For better shopping, head north along the Magnificent Mile/Michigan Avenue or try the Water Tower Mall.

The security there will park cars that block in other cars. It took us 30 minutes to track down security just to get out of this place. Then our paid ticket wouldn’t work when we tried to exit because too much time had lapsed between the time we paid and the time we tried to exit. We ended up holding up a line of cars behind us trying to get out. Instead of an apology, the people that worked there were actually quite rude about it. So if you park here just be prepared to possibly get blocked in, and don’t expect anybody to be nice about it either.

Took in a noon movie and there were only a handful of people in the theater. I truly enjoyed the space around us. It's like sitting in a first class seat with meal service to watch a movie. The food was 3 stars, which was about average, but I wasn't expecting a gourmet experience. Service was pretty fast considering this is not your average dining room. Prices for the movies were still high. I paid $32 for 2 tickets for a noon showing. Food for 2 without any alcoholic drinks was about $36 for 2 of us, which seems to be about average for Chicago.

This shopping center on North State has a very long history, over the last decade it's gone through many ups and downs in its design, construction and development.

Now it is a very attractive, utterly modern and very spacious place to shop, eat (several restaurants), rest , watch movies (eat and watch movies). It has a very pleasant, welcoming interior design , and shops - literally from A through Z (from Anthropologie to Zara, and everything else in between) - are also very big and well-designed, and staff is friendly.

This mall has four levels, properly marked and easily accessed either by wide escalators or a glass elevator. Very appealing is the enormous atrium with many comfy rest areas, tables and chairs - this atrium in itself is just a cool place to be and to admire holiday decorations illuminating and enhancing the beauty of Block 37.

Strangely enough, this mall looks like nothing much from outside, but when you go in you find it a lot to do, and it is just a pleasure to spend some time there. And shop!

This is a nice urban shopping location. There was a variety of stores and places to eat. Even though it is 5 floors, the top floor is mainly a resturant and an AMC miovie theatre.

Block 37 is a mall and a confusing one. The signs are not clear. The ground floor is your typical big brands who have the money to pay the rent, boring except for Bucketfeet. Bucketfeet on are the most comfortable slip-ons/sneakers I have ever worn (caveat-once they stretch out). The mall was fairly airy and clean looking but the 2nd floor for example feels like a bit of a ghost town.

On floor 3 is Latin City, a food court focusing on obviously Latin food. I have not dined there.

The basement is far more interesting and more going on. There are multiple basement levels, go to the first one where the subway station is. I finally found Gayle's Best Ever Grilled Cheese. She is right next to the subway exit.

I have gone to her stand at the farmers markets but she now has a permanent location here. Here grilled cheese sandwiches are good, she uses all market ingredients, organic eggs, local bread, cheese and produce. So I am giving 4 stars to Gayle's grilled cheese, not Block 37. There are a few more interesting vendors in the basement that I will check out the next time I am there.

That's it for Block 37, I will be back to Gayle's because it reminds me of the summer and makes me happy to think of the grass and trees of Green City Market outside. Her sandwiches are a splurge in terms of calories but they are made with great ingredients.
