Found it by mistake

It was a very cold and windy day and we came across this totally by mistake. Great place to sit and collect your thoughts.

This is one of my favorite places to visit in the winter. When it's cold and snowy outside, the lush environment and warm humid air transports you to another place. One that's not so cold and terrible.

I visit Chicago every other year or two on business. I was heading out on the Green Line from downtown to Oak Park one day, and noticed the Garfield Park Conservatory from the eponymous metro stop platform. My wife and I had a free afternoon, so we decided to see what it what. We were certainly glad that we visited!... More

This place is amazing! For people that loves plants like me, is like a paradise! It's free and they just suggest a donation to maintain the place. Is also very near to the Green line, so it's really easy to visit. Definitely worth the visit!

Don't miss this magnificent Conservatory. Designed by Jens Jensen it will take your breath away. It contains amazing gardens inside and out and a wonderful Children's area. Bring your lunch and make a day of it.

This was absolutely the highlight of our weekend. It was rainy and snowy, so this was the perfect place to visit with the hope of spring to come. Loved the fern room, but the blooming plants were definitely worth the long train ride out. Would love to return to this place over and over again. Can't believe it's donation only.

My mother and I visited Garfield Park Conservatory last week, and loved it! It is right off of the Conservatory stop on the El. We took the El, but noticed that there was free parking too. The conservatory is free, but donations are requested. There are about 6ish rooms to go in, and see all sorts of plants from around... More

Going to the Conservatory is always a treat and pleasure. My favorite is seeing the flowers and the palm room. It's a don't miss spot whenever I travel to Chicago.

It is hard to believe that such a superior conservatory can get by on donations for entry. We donated the suggested $5/person and thought it was money well spent. The many rooms show a variety of plant life and although the species from many countries are all mixed up, they are well labeled for the most part. There are many... More

The Conservatory is just of the Conservatory cta station (5 min walk) - green line. It has free parking, and admission is also free. The Conservatory is not too, too big but good for a visit of couple hours at least. There are lots of photo opportunities. The fern and show room sections are outstanding, so are the landscaping and... More
