We really enjoyed seeing the native animals of Illinois and the butterfly exhibit. If we had small children and lived in Chicago, we'd belong to this museum!

April was a nice time to visit...less crowded and fewer kids. Very interesting exhibits. Very small gift shop and inside eating area. The outside nature walk was still suffering from winter.

A great place to bring kids, but even if you have no kids, you should go to see the butterflies. It is magical.

Can anyone tell me if this museum would be ok on a winter day? Besides the birds on the 3D floor, is the rest inside? Thanks!!

Yes, it would be ok for a winter day. Everything is inside - including the butterfly garden, which is very beautiful and worth the visit. Take a look at Exhibits page on the Museum site and look for the Butterfly Haven.
