The Art Institute in Chicago has had a miniature room collection that my grandmother, Evvie, a native Chicagoan, took me to appreciate for the first time when I was seven in 1972. I had just been kidnapped, with Evvie being an unwilling accomplice. My life was chaos. For over an hour, the miniature rooms were a haven where everything was... More

Enjoyed roaming through the art collection on a rainy day in Chicago. The museum was spacious, extensive, and well worth a visit. Also located in Millennium Park with beautiful gardens and unique sculpture. Definitely worth a visit

A whole Monet section!! Amazing! Monet, Renoir, Van Gogh, Seurat!! Sadly the modern/pop art area was closed so we missed seeing Warhol 😞 We used a City Pass coupon to enter so no line-ups but a mandatory coat/bag check that cost $2 per item!!! That was not expected and the ones coat checking were pretty rude. Some more advice I... More

Go see the classics and go crazy with the modern. Make your way to the miniatures on the lower level.

Didn't realise how big this place was. No way we could see everything and digest it all in one visit. Beautiful building, excellent displays. Were there not many attractive people in the 17th and 18th centuries with enough money to commission a portrait? Must have been agony for the artists looking at some of those subjects.

There's a reason it was voted best museum in the world for FOUR STRAIGHT YEARS!! I love European paintings done by some of the most renown painters to have lived on that continent. I didn't realize the scope of their collection. I became a little emotional when I laid my eyes upon some of my favorite Claude Monet paintings. You... More

Full of beautiful art, sculpture and displays of things you see in magazines and calendars. Including Monet, Manet, Cezanne, Pizzaro, Seurat, Degas. The display titled "Saints and Heroes" was fabulous Middle Ages tapestry, chain mail clothing, jousting costumes and poles, to outstanding gold jewelry.

Life long dream of coming to this place. The impressionist wing of the museum was my favorite. I bought my tickets the day before so checking in was a breeze and NO long lines. The reason to come early is that they allow you to take as many photos as you like and believe me once the throngs of people... More

The AIC is located near the lakeshore in Chicago and close to the Aquarium and other attractions. It is an impressive building and has an expansive collection. On par with the National Gallery in DC, AIC has a fantastic collection of French Impressionism, as well as American art and European Early Modern (early Renaissance to 18th century). The ticket price... More
