A job very well thought out and done by Mayor Dan McCollum and Deputy Mayor/Councilman Michael LaDue. Great retention, that assists in saving Green street from major flooding. It's also abeautiful walk.

My grandchildren absolutely LOVE this area! We buy food for the ducks and the little kids just love to watch the ducks go for the food. (Too many people feed the birds table scraps, which is not good for them.) These ducks love berries, nuts and seeds.
We go all through the year, it is even beautiful when it snows!

Urbana- Champaign has been doing an excellent job of spiffing up the formerly flood prone, garbage strewn corridor marked by the Boneyard Creek. From just southeast of downtown Champaign, through campustown, and on into the north part of downtown Urbana, the riparian area has been transformed into a series of parks that double as storm water detention basins. Many places where the creek had been routed underground have been opened up and beautifully landscaped. Love the fairy shrimp motifs in the concrete in downtown Urbana! The campus portion does not (yet) have a direct connection to downtown Urbana. Perhaps that will happen someday.

I think there are two pieces to it:
(1) West of Wright Street. There is an arch, the "Boneyard Greenway." There are plantings every block or so that are completely overgrown with weeds. There are benches for relaxing. And, there is trash along its length. There hasn't been any upkeep for days, maybe weeks. This piece of the Boneyard has nothing to do with the Campus.
(2) East of Wright Street. The Boneyard meanders around the UI Campus a bit. It's beautiful and clean here. There are some really neat stone bridges.
Five stars for #2 and one star for #1.

I have visited U of I on and off since 1977 and have seen quite a change in the Bonyark Creek Trail since my first viewing. Now one can stroll around and see nature as opposed to many interesting urban things- we'll leave it at that- overall a big improvement! If you want a little walk to clear the mind during study time or to take an interesting way around the "ole campus" this is a good idea.

Wow! Paved walkways along the old Boneyard Creek. Lots of it runs through the University of Illinois engineering campus. Nicely paved and well maintained so you will enjoy your walk and feel safe.

I attended the U of I from 1989-93. My best friend and I returned in March for a nostalgic weekend. We saw this trail on a postcard and we could not believe that it was one block from Green Street! I guess I had no reason to venture over to the engineering campus since I was premed. It is very pretty.

This is a nice place to walk or bring your pets or for a good long run. But not on unofficial, it was a mess then with beer bottles and cans everywhere.
