Spectacular facility and a very experienced and knowledgeable host, program director and narrator rolled into one, namely Dave Leake. No matter what the show you learn and are entertained. Our church has come over every year for the past 3 years. For all ages. Cost is reasonable for what you get.

If you want something different to do, maybe learn a little about the planet and the night sky, then definitely check out Staerkel Planetarium.

If you're expecting a spectacular, hi-tech light show you're searching in the wrong city. I'm guessing that other reviewers were expecting something different. This is not an omnimax, but it is one of the best planetariums in the state.

We watched Dynamic Earth, narrated by Liam Neeson. It was a great show, albeit a short one. I loved learning about the Earth and what makes it tick. Since it was a short show, the host showed us some constellations in the current night sky. As an astronomy enthusiast, it was really fun for us to learn something new.

For $5 (or $7 if you go to both shows) it's a good time in the Chambana.

The second largest planetarium in the state is a bit of a hidden jewel in Central Illinois. Nice that there's an early show (7pm) geared to kids followed by one at 8 more for adults (altho to be honest we went to the kids show and found it fancinating). Price is a more-than-reasonable $6, but you can add the second show for only $3 more. On the first weekend of the month, there's also a 9pm Pink Floyd laser show.

As planetariums go, it is fine. I prefer the Adler in Chicago. When visiting the University of Illinois campus, I am not sure it is worth the hassle of getting there.

Went here on a whim with the boyfriend on a night that we wanted to go out, but were tired of hitting bars. It was so informative and just amazingly relaxing. It's hard to explain, but I felt so good that I almost wanted to drift off to sleep because of how relaxed I was. I almost felt like I was back at home, under a night sky full of stars without all the light pollution we have in Chambana. 10/10 would go again.

We love the planetarium so much! Prices are really affordable, and they have a great rotating list of shows for all ages. They changes things up seasonally, and also offer some special evens throughout the year. You can also have a birthday party here.

The Planetarium is an interesting way to do something unique in Champaign. Look on their website to see what special events they have coming up to select a good match for you and your family.

I had great expectations about this place, but ended up very disappointed. The quality of the show was acceptable for kindergartners, but not for adults! The digital proyector was not that great. I attended both shows and realized that the lady in charge of the presentation repeated the same speach, including jokes, word by word! I was hopping to learn something new, exciting, unforgettable...not a chance! Also, I wanted to buy a nice book or souvenir about my visit...there was nothing available, and the lady in charge of selling the tickets was not helpful at all! What a disappointment!
