This park is a very fun, safe place for children. Several apparatus are for little children but many of climbing features and 2 of the slides are definitely better for the older children who don’t require much supervision. Also, it is on a busy street and safer to drive there than to walk, though there is plenty of parking. There is also lots of green space and a large covered pavilion for picnics, as well as what appears to be a restroom building, though I didn’t go inside.

I have come to this park since I was a kid and enjoy it still! I like to walk around the park and enjoy the flowers. I have come here for concerts in the summer and the various events they hold here as well. Good place to watch the fireworks in July as well.

The Hessel Park Tree Walk is amazing. There are 28 unique trees marked with metal tags indicating the names, species and origins. Children play games, people go for a walk with their dogs and even there are several places where you can do a grill party.

I run here every other day. I always see the park staff out early cleaning the water attraction and the rest of the park.

Sometimes the park gets trashed after a holiday, but the always are out early the next morning cleaning it up. Sad that people do that, but that's another story.

It has a nice sidewalk, running path around the park. There are a couple of drinking fountains next to it. Even has one for the dogs! Lots of dog waste bags. People use them and are usually really good about picking up after their pets.

It's a nice park with plenty of trees, pavilions, wide open spaces and more. Very clean. It's a little gem in the middle of Champaign.

With its garden spots, spacious well tended lawns, tennis courts, covered eating areas, and plenty of free parking, this is a favorite destination for families and couples in warm weather. Just a block from another city favorite, Djarling's Custard Cup, it's a place to enjoy sunshine and spring breezes. Bring your frisbee.

Took my grandbaby there to enjoy the playground and the splashpad. They turn it on at about 11 then off at 1 and on again from 3pm to 5pm. It is a small area with ground fountains and sprinkler tunnels that delighted our 2 year old. This is a great park and very large. 2 sets of equipment designed to accommodate kids of all ages. TONS of grass to walk the dogs, or run with the kiddos - best of all..... bathrooms close to the playground area.

Almost 27 acres of grass and pretty trees just west of Kirby and S. Neil St. Love to spend warm evenings walking over to Jarlings for a frozen custard and walking back home through the park. There's a nice curved paved path surrounding the park (a little over half-a mile long), big playground, somewhat tired ballfield, lighted four tennis courts, seasonal water fountains and bathrooms, several pet cleanup stations. There's a shelter that seems popular in the summer, along with picnic tables and grills scattered about. Convenient parking is available on three sides of the square park.

Love driving through this park. In the middle of a neighborhood and just right for families with children. A great place for a picnic.

Great for taking a walk, having a picnic, walking the dog, etc. There are tennis courts, volleyball courts, and a water park/playground that anyone can use. However, I once tried to rent the pavilion and I got no reply. Other than that, it's a fun place to be.

My wife and I are biased: we live one block from this fine park and try to walk there 3 - 5 times per week. In addition to the 0.6 mi walking path, there are tennis courts, children's playground , summer "water" park and ample picnic and shelter spots. Horticulturalists will appreciate the diverse arboretum which grows within the park - with trees labeled as to genus and species. Shady benches offer shade and rest to visitors.
Many species of birds and legions of squirrels entertain the nature watcher, 'tho they become scarce when large Hawks soar overhead.
