We love Sholem Aquatic Center, primarily for the lazy river. It's not fast, or long, but it is both fun and relaxing to mosey along on an inner tube. The slide that empties into the lazy river is very fun, I only wish it were a bit longer! They also have 2 enclosed slides that are great fun without being too scary. The pool area is really great, the zero depth pool is fun to wade into and there are plenty of splashy activities for the kids. There are a few lap lanes in the 4-5 feet end, but that's as deep as it goes. The lifeguards do make an effort to keep the lap lanes clear so they can be used for their intended purpose.
This is not a fancy water park. But without driving to Springfield, IL or Santa Claus, IN...it's a lot of fun. It's always clean and the lifeguards are helpful, friendly and attentive. The food at the snack bar is perfect pool food, and reasonably priced. Sometimes over the summer they will have special events like Lazy River Bingo or eating contests.
The admission rate is $6 for Champaign residents and $9 for non-residents - so be prepared to stay as long as you feel necessary to get your money's worth.

My family regularly swims at Sholem. It has a lazy river, two big slides, a lap pool, a concession stand and a pool for the little guys. My kids love it here. They can mix up their activities, throw a towel on grass and relax, get a hot dog or pretzel, and meet their friends. I grew up in this town and it is much more inviting than the original pool.

go early to get a chair. I went at 11:30 and got a chair by the lazy river entrance/exit. Perfect-ohhh! Since it was just me, all I wanted to do was float. double raft and I'm set. I probably got in and out 3 times over 2.5 hours. by 2:00, there were people waiting for an inner tube. but you didn't have to wait long. everything changes really fast. lifeguards monitor that lazy river impeccably, checking for things on the bottom, etc. I thought everyone and guards were very polite. Kids saying excuse me, thank you, etc. I left around 2:30 and even the overflow parking lot was full. I saw people bringing in coolers. not sure you can do that at crystal lake. each has their own perks. I bought a 10 visit punch card for 50% off. sweeeet. it was on cisaves. definitely going back 9 more times. I liked the entrance. You didn't have to go through either of the locker rooms if you didn't have/want to. Lots of grandparents with their grandchildren and lots of families having a grand time. nice! Happy 4th

My family & I loved this aquatic center. There was something for everyone. A baby area, a children's area with small slides and a small fort, a lazy river, 3 bigger water slides for adults and older children, and of course the pool area. We could have spent all day relaxing here if it wasn't for my one year old needing a nap!

We basically live at Sholem over the summer. The new kids' structure is great and I appreciate the contained under 5 area. The lazy river and slides are always a favorite. The guards are the most alert and attentive group I've seen. My only wish is that they were able to have more weekday, full-pool morning hours.

With this heat that is this summer in Champaign ... stay at home?
No It's hotter than being in a water park with family or friends and enjoying a pool with toys.
Great option for kids and teens!

It's fairly cheap to get in and the food is quite cheap! They have great shaved ice and really good pulled beef nachos. The customer service staff is very pleasant and there are plenty of lifeguards keeping the pool well-watched. There's plenty to do between the two tube slides, the big slide, the lazy river, and the main pool. There's also a baby pool, which I'm sure is fun for the little ones. It's a great place to spend a day!

Nice pool, good temperature and nice people, from workers to other swimmers. Kids area is fenced in for safety, and great slides and play area.

We had so much fun. We were visiting from out of state so we had to pay a higher price. The kids had a great time on the slides. I enjoyed the relaxing tanning ledge in the water. There were little adventure type areas for the younger children which I thought was wonderful. They also have a selection of swimming areas so if the kids are bored with one area, they can move on to the next. The lockers were great for locking up the belongings for buying drinks or snacks. However, parking is not far away if one wants to trek to the car. It's a perfect place for a sunny day.
